Gunnachange, look at your new craft stuff as motivation for clearing space so you can use that craft stuff right away!

The brain knows I am making a little progress, bit the clutter and general confusion hides it! And the other in the house collects too, and for entirely different reasons.... I wish I could keep up. I just have to learn to channel my rather limited physical energy into something noticeable! B.I.L. calls it VP....Visible progress. Trouble is, I have to go past a lot of "stuff" to even see that the sink is clear! Workin' on it...reckon I need another cuppa!

I'm so thankful that He hooked me up with this group many years back. Now if I would just do what I need to do and stick with it!
This is a fine group of ppl here that understand what struggles others are dealing with. The support here is fantastic, you will learn great ideas of how to tackle things and get a lot of high fives in the process. Best to you in this journey.
I'm looking forward to the simple things in life once I clear out all that physically and mentally clutters me. Cooking recipes in a nice clean kitchen that is clear of junk is one of mine. I have never been a cook but want to try my hand at it. Especially my Mom's old recipes. And having my kids over is a huge one. That is the most important. Looking forward to seeing your posts.

Looking back, I wonder what I have achieved! The place is still a mess!I am still tired! I can't go to see my brother in hospital interstate because of covid lockdowns, and so my excuse is really thin! But, I did find the mess very old cat left, and got it cleaned up at once. I did spend hours looking for a paper that eldest daughter needed... no success, but I did find about $5AUD while looking, and found several handfuls of packaging that had worked its way under the couch.and then I did a load of washing and even hung it on the line, despite the wind! So maybe I am a fraction more proactive than when I started this thread. And I think that should be on my gratitude list! And I don't feel as useless as I did earlier in the day. SO onward we go, and I will try to keep some momentum going. All of you are so encouraging! Even those who aren't immediately successful....you help me feel normal, and encourage me to persist!

Thankyou gaylem,, I am working on persistence! not as easy when overwhelmed (yet again) but as I have finished knitting the socks..(apart from sewing in ends), I know I can do it! Grateful ! And I will spend the found $5 having coffee at a cafe, (sitting outside, masked and thickly clad, despite the temp being below freezing this morning)! ,

Gunnachange, a few posts back you said "my excuse is getting thin." I find that when I use the word "excuse", I am often being dismissive of the actual REASON I have not accomplished my goal. If I pay close ATTENTION, these are actual REASONS. Often they are very minor reasons, but when those small reasons pile up, they become major obstacles just as the physical clutter can pile up.
Changing longstanding habits is a very difficult undertaking. Do not be dismissive of your efforts.
I think many of us work MUCH HARDER at tending to things than a "normal" person. Your example of looking for an important paper for hours is a good example of this. I think it is important to consider how this might have been prevented. One small change that really worked in my life was the simple act of hanging my keys in the same spot consistently. When I made this minor detail an important priority, I saved myself much lost time and inconvenience.
