Last week: a large garbage bag full of clothes donated. 21 articles of clothing - mostly because they are too big after a major weight loss (yay!).
Yesterday: a bag full of expired food (flour from 2012 - yikes!). About a dozen small jars into recycling (instead of into a box to give to someone who cans food....I'm anxious for the recycling to be picked up so I can stop feeling guilty about that!).
Mosaic - your Science magazines were the same vintage as my flour.....

Calico Congrats on the weight loss. To all: Four old well preserved photos albums from the 1920'to 40's went with daughter. She and her daughter will to thru them. Remember the black album pages with white ink notes and celluloid photo corners? A small portion of what is in the photo boxes but psychologically a relief I don't have to toss them...they can deal with the albums disposition.

Serendipity I would have loved for you to take them! A coworker had a subscription and never even read them. They were all still in their plastic wrappers. When he retired and vacated his office, all of them were left behind to be thrown away. I felt bad about that and loaded them into my car to take home to recycle. Then I had an even better idea - give them away to a student who loves science and is bored because they are unable to attend school due to the pandemic lockdowns. So I advertised them online for weeks, with those two banker's boxes of magazines taking up space in my house. No interest at all, so I decided the best thing I could do is recycle them after all. Not the disposition I wanted for them, but it felt good to get them out of my house and be absolved of the responsibility for keeping them until I found the perfect home for them.

Hunting related finally out the door. Neighbor who hunts responsibly helped consolidate down to a couple of items I will keep. He will clean those and gifted the rest to him. Large drawers empty, stoarage stands gone, remaining items consolidated into one small storage container for my keepers. This is not the camping stuff in a back room in the garage. That has yet to go...I will get to it..maybe an Marketplace "freebie". Getting rid of hunting related a relief.... Sewing is more my thing.

I finally dropped off my book donation today. They had been in the car for a few weeks. I'm not out and about as much because of COVID. Today I dropped them off on my way home from shopping. Very convenient. 14 bags/boxes of books. Gone forever!
Now I can start loading another generic charity donation. Stuff has been collecting in the entry, waiting for me to empty the books from the back of the car.

BetsyMarie getting the books out the door. My books are sorted and ready to go but not yet out the door. I must make that a priority. Thanks for the motivation.

Yesterday I changed the bedding and removed the old foam mattress topper. Cut/tore that up into smaller pieces, and today I put those in the trash bin with the regular house trash, and rolled it to the street. It will be gone tomorrow forever.

These are the pressing things I need to accomplish this summer or sooner if possible. I buy and sell vintage items, but I didn't do a lot of it last year due to COVID.
sold: typewriter, bed frame
to sell: 8 pieces of furniture 3 bulky vintage items 1 appliance 3 pastel sinks to donate: small household goods (flatware, dishes) clothes to friend who sells on Mercari
to shred: financial documents that are older than 7 years
to trash: anything that I don't considered restorable with moderate or little effort and that no one would really want from a charity shop

Tossed most of the fragrances and essential oils left over from soap making days. They occupied two closet shelves, now just a few small bottles kept in the laundry room. Lye in safe long term storage, molds and a few basics to pass on to a local soapmakers should empty the closet.

Worked last 2 days on sorting clothes— getting summer things out, washing & putting winter things away. Also going through the clothes I brought over from our second house that we sold in Feb. 2020, just before Covid hit.
So, had a big black bag full of discarded but still good items to donate. Only problem, the one thrift shop in my town that has reopened is only open 3 days a week, and only allows one bag of clothing per day! So I took one bag in yesterday and just took the remaining good-sized bag over there this morning. So all donations are out.
And, every item in my closet actually now fits!!

Don't know why I waited so long to get rid of items I kept stumbling over. Donated the boxed with manuals big old juicer brother brought here. Also donated ceiling light globes still in boxes. Cleared a modest area where I place donation items.
