Ack! I found evidence of a mouse/mice in the back room. The 3 young cats have not seemed very interested in the area, so I don't know what the current situation is. Prior to these young kits, I had 2 very old cats who would not have deterred anything. In 30 years, there have been thankfully very few rodents that made it into the house, several lizards, and one baby gopher snake.
done -set 6 mouse traps where the cats can't get to them -made more areas accessible for the cats to explore in that room - they've been keeping me company on and off, and haven't gotten too interested in anything. Yet. -good decluttering in that area - difficult to quantify, but now have much better access to the closet in there
todo -more work in back room -bring up trash bin from the street -take down dry laundry and put away

I saw a couple ideas for diy live traps online. I might set one of those up. I really don't know if there are live mice in the house. If there are, I can't believe my active little cats wouldnt have been hanging out in that room, nor caught and played with at least one of them. Maybe not kill cuz their citified mommas would have taught them nothing.
done -washed dishes -scrubbed the blades of two old carbon steel knives -got mail and brought up trash bin from the street
todo -take out trash -finish dishes -clean sink

gaylem I use regular snap traps. I put the bait (peanut butter) deep under the bait platform, crushed into the hinge. They have to turn their heads almost upside down to lick it. IMHO this delays their reaction time to the !snap! Whereupon mouseanne betrays the brotherhood. TaDa Came home from work, made my bed, got my sticker. 90 min later, peel it back to sit on while I change out of dress clothes to sweats Fold put dry bras

gaylem I have no idea what makes a good bait for mice. I've actually never tried to trap them before. In the yard, when bunnies and squirrels overrun the yard, I've used chopped Romaine lettuce in live traps. But I don't think that would work for indoor mice. The traps I've just set I used a bit of chopped almond embedded in peanut butter. It looked yummy to me. I had friends who lived in an old farmhouse and had to trap for rats in their garage. Their kid got good at it. He wrapped wire around the bait tray and rubbed peanut butter into the wire so the critter would have to really work to eat it. So the trap would spring. They also used bricks on 3 sides of the trap to orient the animal so it would go into the trap straight-on. I don't know if either of these would be helpful for mice. Eventually they used electric zap-traps. Good work in the trailer. Sounds like interesting stuff. done -finished the dishes -scrubbed 3 fry pans -wiped sink and dishpans Todo -take down dry laundry -fold and put away laundry -pupa in main bathroom

Hi all gaylem I am glad you had help with the hoard. Five hours of work is wonderful. BetsyMarie my mum used to bait mouse traps with cubes of bread with drops of vanilla extract on them and when we had them in the house many years ago I got desperate and put some leftover fried rice and it worked! Might be useful. kitchen clean up clean up after dogs in backyard walk dog dog to vet more kitchen clean up fold and put away clean laundry swish/swipe toilet

Howdy TaDa Junk mail Washed drying pjs When I came downstairs from sewing last time, I realized I hadn't turned down the thermostat. No point in heating an empty floor. Went back up to turn it down. Took up a drawer from a side table that's waiting to go up. Doing well: Keeping tidy Living room, Bedroom Clothes/jewelry putting away Being consistent with inhalers
