Went to bank and to post office. Put away dry dishes. Measured ingredients, put them in bread pan, put pan in machine, and pressed the buttons to do the rest of the work. First kneading is finished, and I'm heading out. Spend 10 minutes on boxes. Declutter at least 10 things. Mop kitchen floor. Wash bathroom floor. Go for a walk.

Good Friday Morning, everyone. After taking most of yesterday off, I'd love to get lots done today. But it's still too early this cool morning to dig in. done -up -overnight lights off, front blind opened -first cup cocoa made Todo -tidy entry after sorting charity donations and emptying car -kitchen floor - clear -vacuum If wishes were horses, beggars would ride...

working slowly, and in tiny bites - on the premise that even doing a tiny bit is getting something accomplished. Until MFA kicks in - motivation follows action. Not that motivation is high right now, but some things are getting done at a non-forced pace. done -picked up and vacuumed kitchen floor -put away some clean pots and pans -consolidated bottles of dish soap Todo -kitchen counter -find better place for kitchen rags -vacuum corners/baseboards in kitchen

Good morning, BetsyMarie and all others here. What I didn't tell y'all yesterday was that I had decided to make the bread with the old yeast I had on hand, without having tested it first. The bread did rise, but not a lot. I actually like dense bread. That wasn't the problem. It's just not very tasty, and I never did smell the yeast as it baked. Looked up how to make croutons. Threw out all the yeast, and put yeast on my grocery list. Started dishes soaking. PUPA 5 minutes. Mop kitchen floor. Wash bathroom floor.

goldenthreads I remember the first bread (rolls) I ever made in my first apartment in college. I had little clue what I was doing. They were pretty, but so dense and hard they could have been used as hockey pucks I'm sure yours was much better than my youthful disaster. I do love the smell and taste of fresh-baked bread. gaylem Congratulations getting rid of so many big, bulky items. I ended up going in a different direction this morning. Trying to organize rags and kitchen towels led me to reorganizing a few kitchen drawers for a more efficient way. Very pleasing results. These drawers I never prioritized for decluttering in the past because they were 'out of sight' when company was here. But now they are fair game. done -cleaned fully or partially 4 drawers in the kitchen -put away rags and kitchen towels in their new homes -put away/organized miscellaneous kitchen items todo -more kitchen work -vacuum in bedroom -totally clear small kitchen cart

Wow, gaylem! That was a fine way to cap off the week! Very happy for you. I'm imagining you stuffing all that into your car, and then the workers pulling out one thing after another after another as if it were Mary Poppins's bag/car. Nice job on the kitchen, BetsyMarie! Washed dishes. Dusted kitchen, including cobwebs, while listening to a decluttering video. Ran Roomba in bathroom. Get dressed. Mop kitchen floor. Wash bathroom floor. PUPA 5 minutes.

goldenthreads - I'm sorry your first loaf was disappointing. Did your breadmaker come with recipes? Can I suggest you start with a basic recipe supplied by the manufacturer. Each type of breadmaker like to have their ingredients added in a specific order, for some reason. I have also noticed that the amount of water can make a difference. I tend to use a little more than recommended - probably just a couple of tablespoons. It can be added at the first knead if the dough looks dry. I think it should be a little tacky/sticky. Our landlords are coming for an inspection on Monday. They never want to do this and it's a little concerning as they have been selling up their properties. Anyway we have 2 days to get some stuff done and it's a real motivation for G to tidy his mess. Breakfast Started load of washing Made long list of things to do Bedroom Bathroom Toilet Work on getting these rooms done by lunchtime

razy , Thanks for the advice. I was going to say I followed the manufacturer's recipe, but I did modify it very slightly by using less salt and tossing in a couple tablespoons of rolled oats instead of rye flour. I followed the correct sequence. I've had bread machines before, and I've done whole grain breads in them before, so I realized the thing wasn't quite moist enough. I sprinkled in more water a couple of times. I really do believe that the problem was the yeast from 2016 (oops!!!). The jar had remained closed and refrigerated the whole time. I finally proofed the yeast this morning before I tossed it, and it was the weakest yeast response I've ever seen. It was a bad bet to have made. Crossing fingers that fresh yeast will work next time. Got dressed. Washed bathroom floor. Mopped kitchen floor. Go for a walk. Spend 5 minute on boxes. Get rid of at least 5 things.
