Good morning scholar!
I'm back from the library--I returned two books--one that I didn't read, I started it and gave it about 30 pages but didn't like it so stopped. I picked up three books that were waiting for me, but two are gardening advice books so they will not be books I read from cover to cover, I will skim them and look for anything helpful to my outside mini-garden.
Now I have a few hours before the AC guy gets here. I'm guessing the visit today will not take long, he is just taking out the old AC unit. The handyman will be here early tomorrow morning to start work on the new cement slab for the new unit.
TO DO:
10 minutes on plants Clean 2nd floor toilet and sink Put the rest of the groceries away Make some book notes
I seem to be able to only keep one thing up to date at a time. I've been doing a lot of PEEPing and most of the house looks good. But I've been neglecting the email deletion for several days and they're building up again. I only kept up the "try to repot one plant per day for about three days, and now I'm behind on that. I'm retired and I still can't keep up with things.

desposito I am making a list of things I want to do when my life is my own again. One thing will be to visit the library again - and on a regular basis. I am going to try and plan for days to declutter and clean but allow for time to go to the library and actually sit among the stacks and read and everything. I wish our library was open on sundays as that to me is a sunday thing to to. I first have to settle a rather large fine I have - when I lost books under a pile of stuff. Busy busy busy here today - not time for a break - must get back to work..... So far the white pants are still clean. And I met one of my coworkers today - we have been working together 15 months and I finally met her!

Good morning all. Cool here only 61! Dark and cloudy too. The good news is that this weather is great for a sleeping puppy. She is still asleep catching up no doubt.
I have on very light capris but not white! This is actually a jeans day I think.
So far I entered my conference on time. Attending but trying to do multi tasking. Did some emails and administrative work.
Last night I worked on my debt. Listed it all w balances and interest rates. Worked out a payment plan to chip away and to fully pay off the one w highest interest rate. I have not been charging my big recent purchases like the plumbing and the computer and vet bills. So I am not charging anything for nearly one year which is good -this debt is an albatross.

Good morning bree!
I have not been charging my big recent purchases like the plumbing and the computer and vet bills.
Wow, that's fantastic! The best thing you can do is get rid of those high interest balances, the interest ends up taking all your income! You are on the right track.
Ohblondie, I am drawn to the library like a magnet--they are not quite the quiet places that they used to be years ago, there is a lot more going on there now, but it still feels like a sanctuary to me. A sanctuary filled with thousands of different worlds in it, waiting to be read and discovered. I'm so glad this library lived up to my expectations, leaving the library system I was using was a big thing for me and it turned out okay. Quiet hours at the library is a wonderful thing to envision for your retirement time!
Next:
Take dog out Check birdbath and plants 10 minutes on first floor Refill upstairs bird seed jars

I potted my mom's plant into a bigger pot first thing. Cut out some crappy looking leaves. It looks good! When it's settled in late this afternoon, I'll take it back to her.
After breakfast in the park, I stopped at a LFL. I found "A Man Called Ove" 😀 which I've been keeping my eye out for for several months!!
Went to the Amish grocery store for a few things. Got small bottles of juice to take for breakfast, a box of 15 trash bags for 99c, some local cucumbers and tomatoes. 🍅🍅🍅
AND I bought another plant! 😕 It's a 2.5 foot tall blue saliva and I know just where I'm going to plant it. In back of the building by the back door in semi-shade. I might go get another if they mark them down. And I have some small white fences to put back there. The boy who mows is getting too close! Last week he chopped a big hole in one of my pots with the weed wacker!! 😠
I got the carrot cake and gave it to my neighbor man along with the funny card. He was surprised. 😀

Diane - When I was around 8 years old (probably 8-11 yrs) we lived in a very small town. But we had a library less than a block from my house. I used to love to go there and take out books. The library was only open a few days a week. I would often take 10 books out at a time. The librarian knew that I would read every book and bring them back and take out 10 more. As I got older, she would let me volunteer to help. I remember filing little cards (the ones in the back where they stamp the due date?) and there was a long special thing to help put them in alpha order. I loved the quietness of a library.
ETA: I think I read almost every book (in my age category) in that library........
I ran a quick errand over lunch and I dropped off my MIL's birthday and mothersday gifts and cards. Both she and my mother have birthdays right around mother's day. A very busy time of the month.
And our governor just lifted most all of our restrictions. (except for schools, public transportation, prisons and health care facilities) So the push to come back is on.
And I made it through lunch (eggplant parm) and the pants are still white!

I was a bookworm, too. we had a lovely local library. also read everything in the YA section. How cool that you got to volunteer! I know what you mean about the alphabetizer tool.
M came, and we worked on my jewelry, KonMari-ing and organizing. Then we had lunch and she wrote down lists while I brainstormed.
Then I knocked almost everything off of the list I did this morning. Very proud of myself for doing that, instead of avoiding it.
DONE: asked M re: ride replied to V posted change of time on FB replied to two messages paid tdoc called and made an appt w/ SS office--benefits will be retroactive to 4/16, yay!

hi ohblondie and scholar! 🙋 My mom took us to the library a lot when we were kids too. It was only 5 blocks away. I've always loved to read. I didn't go to the grocery store yet but I did water most of my pots, planted the carrots and cilantro seeds, and then I got sidetracked. I pulled weeds down by the other front entrance. What a mess. Then I swept dirt and stones and mown grass in front of those 3 apartments. I ended up with a big heavy bagful. Why can't anyone else clean and tidy around here?? Now Im cooling off with an iced tea after changing my shirt and washing up. Feels like 90f. Next Make a salad and toast a cranberry oat bagel. Go to mom's for a visit and bring her plant back. Go down the basement find the little white fences and scrub them up in the sink down there. If I feel like it, i may plant the new plant out in back by the door.

Sue, I read "A Man Called Ove" and loved it! Except while reading it I kept stumbling over the name so I remember looking up how to pronounce it, so I could hear it correctly in my mind while reading. Of course, now I've forgotten how--I think it's "ooh-vuh"
And I love salvia--and bees like salvia too!
So, the AC guy came--actually, "AN" AC guy came, not the one who was supposed to come. This guy was fine, and it turns out he lives not far from here, whereas the other guy lives a long way away. He's apparently with the same company, I thought the other guy was independent, but obviously not. Anyway, it only took him half an hour to inspect the inside workings, figure out how they were going to run a new line from the outside to inside, and disconnect the unit outside. They will be back Friday afternoon to install the new one.
The temperature outside is only mid-70s, and I've been upstairs here with the window unit on since he disconnected the unit, so it's okay. For now.
While waiting for the guy to come I swept the upstairs floors and moved more things in the basement.
Now it's almost time for the dog to go out, after that I'll try to get back on track and do some work.

Oh boy, I am so distracted right now. The rescue group my friend knows about is now trying to find homes for a set of 3 parakeets, a set of 2 parakeets, AND a pair of cockatiels. I love cockatiels. I've been thinking about this and can't get it out of my mind. I feel some plant ordering coming up in my future...

DD2 came at 7 am and stayed until 2. Bookcases delivered at 3:30! I have to unbox them and check for damage tomorrow. 3:45 my sister called to tell me that mom's best friend since she was 18 had passed away. We called her Auntie and have many, many memories. Talked with Mom. Dinner and conversation with DH.
I'm going to allow myself time and space tonight.
Rest well everyone.

Thank you scholar, I am breathing deeply.
Congrats on making it through the day with white pants unscathed, ohblondie!
PS, I'm glad your bookcases arrived, but I'm sorry to hear about your mom's friend. It's so tough getting to the age where many friends are getting ill and dying, it's a lonely feeling.
I'm very sleepy now so I think I'm just going to give up and start getting ready for bed. I'll wait to take the dog out so she doesn't go out too early, maybe I'll read until it's time to take her out.
I'll say good night, and see you all in the morning!
Diane
