Good morning sue, we are in the lower 60s here right now, it feels so good. Going up to upper 70s, and that's warm enough for the upstairs to get hot, but I'm enjoying the cool while I can.
Ohblondie, that is such exciting news that your parents are going to the facility. How far is it from your home? Lots of work ahead for you with the house, but you'll know your parents will be somewhere with lots of help available if needed. Did your sister get an idea of how much work you've been doing?
The dog was picked up, they are always vague about when they will bring her back so I definitely will not try to go anywhere. Last time they said they would bring her back around 4, but I guess she was crying in the cage and driving them crazy so they brought her back before noon! Today they said "after lunch" but it could be any time.
TO DO:
10 minutes on plants 10 minutes on my file project
Update all lists Delete 5 hard emails

Good morning everypony!
That is huge news, ohblondie, congratulations!
I didn't do anything last night except put a thermal wrap on my back at some point. Pretty sore this morning, but just in certain positions. I'm going to have to baby step this house back into some semblance of shape. I'm feeling pretty groggy at the moment.
I guess I'll start my online routine, at least.

TwinkleToes, I got minimums from a youtube video. He broke it down to minimums, regular and elite amounts of the same habit. The idea is to build consistency. Your minimum must be so minimum that you are able to do it everyday easily. I actually worked on finding the absolute least I could do without losing the work I had already done on any given day before. So everyday I take my meds, take out to the bin any full trashcan or recycle bin from the house, sort yesterday's laundry into my sorter so I know when I have a full load - wash if a full load, do all my dishes and scoop all 5 of my litter boxes. On days I am in a flare or depressed it may take me all day to do these items but I can get them done. When I am feeling good these don't take long at all. It also means when I am feeling good I don't have to dig out of past days before I can get something else done. bree, many years ago a productivity expert I had hired to do a presentation for my company taught me that R&R can be one of the most productive things we can do for ourselves long term IF we do it without guilt. She said the emotional energy of guilt can leach the good out of rest. It doesn't mean I am good at this myself, but thought you might benefit from hearing this. Oh, the paperwork. oh, oh, oh. I am right there with you. This is the one area fear kicks in for me. What if I get rid of something I need for an audit, for a warranty, for capital gains. Sigh. Then there is the in-depth specialty knowledge I have on paper that you can not "just look up on the internet" What if I need it again? I am a mess in this area. ((scholar)) I am so happy to hear the memorial went well. There was no need to prove the point about resting by wrenching your back! So glad you get the vet pick up/drop off, Diane! Sue, you are so good to your family. It warms my heart. ohblondie, so very glad to hear your party was awesome! and that you got good sleep for a few nights. It is so wonderful to watch you walk through giving up the "good" stuff the last couple of weeks. WTG! Your really big news - is REALLY big! I am so happy for all of you. I was wondering how that would work when you went back to the office. My parents move the day after yours, on Thursday. My youngest sister has been the local sibling and I have been sending her money but I know the move will be best. She has a 3, 13, and 15 year old on top of my parents and her full time job. Oy. today I will do minimums cook dinner and cake pick up a few random things at grocery and meds at pharmacy I'm calling it partial vacation, .

I love reading everyone’s posts here. Thank you, everyone, that takes the time to post and share.
I just updated my list. I will just keep updating the list I posted this morning as I don’t want to clutter the thread with all of my updates.

Diane - the facility is a few blocks from my house. I could easily walk but I will likely drive as I will be visiting after work. I should get my bike out and ride that over. Another awesome thing is - they can move stuff in - decide if they like it or not - and trade stuff around. it will take us a couple of months to get the house empty and ready. The facility is a half a block away from our church - so hopefully church people will visit. And our favorite place for ice cream (and coffee) is right across the street! They chose the apartment with the small turret room - which gives them some additional space and lots of windows.
So now it is extreme focus time. They only have a microwave and small fridge. But there is no need for them to cook. So they will need limited plates/silverware and cups. So all baking things and such can go. I will suggest a few small tupperware type things but that is it.

That location sounds ideal! I'm very happy for you that you will not be stretched so thin with all the direct caregiving plus scheduling and hiring of aides. At my parents' facility the meals in the dining room are sometimes a little too big for the appetite, so you see residents routinely carrying little bags containing empty plastic containers for leftovers from those meals. Then at home, the leftovers can become more meals. Each resident is entitled to five items from the menu, so people take full advantage of that allowance to supplement what they keep on hand. I will also say that my parents are introverts, and living there greatly expanded their social circle to their benefit. The parent who was more reluctant to move there grew to love it.

ohblondie that sounds just like my mom's assisted living! ☺ My dad was there a few years ago and we all liked it, so she chose the same place. They cook you 3 meals a day and clean your bathroom every day. Vacuum your room. Shower you once a week. Activities every day in the dining room or library that you can join in or not. Each room has garden space outside planted with nice shrubs and perennials. I added birdfeeders and hanging flower baskets. I visit almost every day and my sister and brother do the same. I asked today if kitties are allowed to visit. Yes. Only in the resident's room. So my neice can bring her cat to visit Grandma. 😽

Hi golden!
The animal hospital called at 11:15 saying the dog would come back at 11:45. So I went downstairs to hang around there but of course, she didn't arrive home until almost 12:30! But she's here, and now I feel better. As expected, she's going to need a teeth-cleaning soon, they will give me an estimate.
While I was downstairs waiting I prepared the rest of the flowerpots on the enclosed front porch, they are now ready for me to finally plant the caladium bulbs.
But now it's time for lunch!

Thank you TT, I'm relieved to have her back!
While eating lunch, I did online research on yucca plants--my gardening friend told me to check them out since they love all day sunlight, which I have in the back yard. I like them, but I found myself wondering if I could have one inside too--there's one very cool green-blue variety that looked like a little tree...I don't know if that one is amenable to living inside, though. I have enough plants vying for the sunniest windows, I guess I don't need another desert type plant inside.
Okay, back to work.
