Hi, I am a single woman in her 40s living in the UK. I have lurked on this site for a number of years and have found the advice and support to others comforting. But I am now hoping that posting on a blog here will help me in my aspiration to improve my home and ultimately my life.
I remember as a child always being messy. When my room got really messy then I would be made to tidy up but then it would slide again quickly into mess. I was never taught how to upkeep the tidiness and frankly I was ***. I would (and still do) leave everything for tomorrow but tomorrow comes and I am no more inclined to deal with it and the mess just gets worse until it is a huge and overwhelming job to deal with it.
Today as I lie on my bed (I have not been able to access the sofas in my sitting room for months due to stuff!) my flat and my mind are cluttered, messy and chaotic. I have to make improvements, now is the time. I am starting a blog in the blog section to hopefully keep me on track, to help motivate me to make little improvements each day as the big picture is just too overwhelming to deal with at the moment.

Welcome Glebe. I look forward to your blog. Baby steps got me started. After time the feeling of being overwhelmed has gone away. I hope you gain as much information and motivation here as I have.
