Hubby and I went to the funeral home last evening, but after waiting in line for 30 minutes it became clear that we would have been there another hour and a half or more to get through the line. So we returned back home and went through the line at the church this morning. Those poor people. I feel for them so much. (For those who missed it, our neighbor's son took his own life last week. He was a type 1 diabetic... a very creative and artistic young man.) ta-da's: Did a bit of food prep Tidied up the kitchen some, wiping parts of the countertop, and wiping out the microwave. Went for a walk. to-do: Laundry. I ran a load last night, but never put it away... Water the house plants Something from the August Challenge I want to work on developing a system/schedule for regular tasks that I do weekly, monthly... etc... I used to have one on my old computer. I need either see if I can get on there and copy it, or start over.

Good luck establishing a regular routine, either new or finding the old one. @ally . That is a good idea and I wish I could do that too. Even thinking about that pokes at my underlying resistance.
done: -more organizing in the entry -found and started filling one of the larger inside recycling containers. -put away some large mason jars of stuff off the counter - their former official home. They looked nice for a long time, but I think now 'less' indeed will be 'more'.
todo -organize donations -take recycling to main outside bin -bring new kitty litter into the house
edit: I think I need to do something fun, but constructive. Organizing some of the artsy stuff might be what's needed.

Glebe Gets Serious healing for your back. wildpony and Ally Hello! BetsyMarieI'd be working on the entry to avoid the scooping! Went for a short walk while the air was a bit cool and the air quality better than it will be. I had forgotten how good morning exercise feels, and how it improves the mood. Had meds, and made bed. Started dishes soaking. Shower and dress. Purge the small box. Decide what to do with any keepers and do it. Put away dryer load. Copy a file onto flash drive. Errands: mail card and payment; print out document from flash drive at Office Depot, go to pharmacy and grocery store. Do some work at the library.

BetsyMarie, my "schedule" was more like a rough guideline and included some fun (or less difficult) things too. My houseplants thrived when I did it, because I had a weekly watering schedule. Now one day, I notice a plant is nearly dead, and I think... oh, I should have watered that! Hello goldenthreads! ta-da's: Watered potted plants, indoors and out. Tidied in the kitchen a little more. Shredded some more junk mail. to-do: Oops, I forgot about the laundry... I'm off to do that now. Work on my quilt project. I've really been procrastinating, and it would reduce some of my clutter if I could get it done. Work on creating schedule/list.

Thanks very much, wildpony! I love that dancing banana!!!! Today was one of those days where there was no scope for doing three of anything other than work. I need to think of what non-work tasks I did, if any: Small TA DAs: -- Put a few items in the DW -- Put away all the mugs in the drying rack -- Didn't create any new messes (does that count?) TO DO: -- Put rest of dishes in DW and start it -- Launder pillow designated to donate to Humane Society -- Scoop LBs And those three TO DOs have been tired just thinking about them. That's not good.

TA DA: This sentence was also posted in A Delicate Balance: I was almost too tired to move this evening, but, given I posted to WITs, I followed through on watering plants, including the little Redbud. S/he is doing well thus far. -- Put rest of dishes in DW and started it -- Scooped 3 LBs -- Watered outside plants Didn't have the wherewithal to go to the squalor basement to do a load of laundry

I hope it's okay to post this here. I've been reading through the details of the hoarding conference this weekend. The session (below) looks particularly relevant. I appreciate that you are all my action partner buddies! ---------------------------------------------- The Power of Clutter Buddies: Action Partners in Recovery from Hoarding Disorder Sunday, August 8 12:30 PM-1:45 PM Elizabeth Barr The Mental Health Association of San Francisco Susie DuBois, MFT The Mental Health Association of San Francisco Vera Oliver The Mental Health Association of San Francisco Maureen Spranza The Mental Health Association of San Francisco This workshop teaches specific techniques to effectively utilize Clutter Buddies - helpmates in recovery. These tools were developed by peers, for peers; however, a clinician’s perspective is also offered. Clutter Buddy etiquette is outlined, and distinctions are drawn between Clutter Buddy support and Clutter Coaching. Barriers to getting a Clutter Buddy are defined and solutions discussed. A resource list on where to find a Clutter Buddy is provided, including information on FREE support groups from numerous organizations. Peer professionals and participants from the Mental Health Association of San Francisco show their before and after photographs, demonstrating the power of non-judgmental mutual support. Attendees join breakout sessions to practice the techniques presented. The workshop ends with Questions and Answers. web.cvent.com/event/60514c19-28e0-4cc5-b2c6-122f3bc81f60/websitePage:163d0677-66fe-42d3-a112-61e72912221d

Keen to get the rest of the visible kitchen finished today, for now the chaos/ disorganisation in the cupboards can be left. Slow and steady today again I think. Yesterday I propped up my iPad in the kitchen and started to re-watch Downton abbey again from the first series, am going to do that again today as it was nice ‘company’ as I worked. ClimbingPyramids I definitely think that not creating new mess counts, especially when you have to focus on other priorities. I struggle to get the balance and usually let one thing slide when I am focused on another. I think I am going to take a leaf out of your book today and not make any new messes, thanks for the inspiration. To do Done Dressed, teeth, washed etc. 1. Check if laundry on airer is dry if so move it into bedroom. 2. Hang up next load of washing to dry. 3. Clear away breakfast things and see if dishwasher is full and ready to be run. - pleasantly surprised that I had put it on last night and so emptied it instead! 1. Take all rubbish bags to the dumpster 2. Pick up anything on kitchen floor and deal with it. 3. Clear, wipe and organise 1 remaining counter. 1. Sorted dry goods cupboard. 2. Put on a laundry load. 3. Swept and mopped kitchen floor.
