Good morning decade, sue and def!
I left the house a little before 8am this morning, took a bus to Walmart, and then walked home. Despite what their website said, they did not have my water. In fact, they had ONE brand of water in 24-pack size, and it was Aquafina--I have a feeling I had this once and didn't like it, but felt pressured to buy something--obviously there is now another major water shortage. Hopefully it was just a hot spell kind of shortage, not a Covid shortage that will last for months. And hopefully the Aquafina will at least be acceptable until I can get something else.
Of course, while there, I ended up buying other stuff. I would have bought some cut fruit which would have meant I wouldn't need to order from the other store for a while, but all the cut fruit looked old and unappetizing. I did buy some fresh and frozen veggies, and the giant size bag of York Peppermint Patties--which costs over $13 if bought at the regular store, but about $9.50 at Walmart. They are a favorite when chilled from the fridge.
I also bought a package of generic Benadryl tablets, I will try them for my dizzy allergy symptoms.
It was a little warm walking home but there was a cool breeze every once in a while, so much better than last week.
Now I will rest my feet and cool off, in 45 minutes it's time to take the dog out to the yard.

Today is likely my last work from home day. Technically it is Friday - but I am not sure if I am taking friday off or not. Already I have spilled my coffee, dog ate my bagel while I was cleaning up the coffee, then I partially spilled the second (replacement cup) Since I was sitting in bed when the coffee spilled, bedding needed to be washed. Mattress cover washed and in dryer; sheets and spread in the wash now. Last night (or mon night - cant remember) I said to my DH "for about a hot second, the laundry is caught up and under control" Well it lasted about 24-48 hours! Sheets were due to be washed.
I might was well wash the towels while I am at it....and socks/underwear, and a load of cold darks as I might have grabbed DH workshirt to soak up the coffee.....

Hello dtesposito I'm glad you passed over and didn't buy the old yucky fruit at Walmart. I do hope that you can get the water that you prefer as well as fresh fruit to eat that also has high water content. I think about you walking to get supplies and wonder If I should try this. I will measure how far the farmers market is in relation to my house using the trip odometer in the car. I might find the sunscreen and give this a whirl. Today I conquer the laundry room!

ohblondie You are handling the above situation remarkably well and probably very gracefully- with no curse words. You've made my day with the thought of the dog eating the bagel.

Diane - would something like a Brita pitcher help as a back-up? When my DM was living alone - getting water became more of a challenge - for her it was just too cumbersome as opposed to availability. But, her well water destroyed coffee pots. The Brita really helped and when I was there I would use it to refill water bottles and put them in the fridge. You probably have a high consumption but if you were sort of doing both - buying water and refilling the empties - you could stockpile a bit. I'm sure there are other brands than Brita - that is just the one I know.

Good afternoon everybody! Diane you carry a 24 water pack walking back from the store? that must be heavy to lug. I only buy the smaller waters unless DD is with me as she’s slender but strong and she can haul the big ones! ohblondie sorry about your coffee spills -I have to confess I did use curse words this morning when my computer was acting up and my puppy rushed over to console me. I am working home today -it is a rare (knock on wood) day with no chaos meetings!!!! I had two meetings this morning and a rush job that we’re moving along at a good clio yesterday was the kick off of DD’s official sports season and she did well!!! so that was a good start to the year. today is her first day of school. I hope she’s having a good day I’ve had a few play sessions with the puppy, fed the animals, mostly I am still tired maybe that is just my state -being tired /but we do move a lot here this afternoon I want to actually work on some of my personal finances as well as get some more work work done, then I’m going to head out to watch an away game. Yesterday we just bought dinner out after her game -I’m not sure what will end up doing tonight

puppy rushed over to console me.
I just love the mental pictures I get from your animal stories, keep them coming!
So, after resting for a while I stood up to take the dog out and my right ankle is killing me again. Yesterday I somehow hurt it walking up the stairs, but the pain only lasted a few hours and this morning it was perfectly fine--in fact, while walking home it was perfectly fine, other than the usual tired feeling I always get in my feet. But now I'm limping.
I took the dog out, and then went to the street (slowly) to bring the cans in. Before putting the cans back into place next to the porch, I decided to take advantage of the open space to get under the porch and pull out any woody nightshade that keeps popping up (there was one new vine) and guess what else I found? A little vine with clumps of three leaflets. Okay--now I might have poison ivy too? Good heavens, a garden of terrors. So I took a couple of photos of it, put the dog back inside, came out with a vinyl exam glove and immediately pulled it up and put into the yard waste can. Then I came inside and washed my hands.
Then, I looked up poison ivy, and found a whole website about it. I'm not sure, but it could have been poison ivy. The leaf edges were rounded instead of pointed, but there were a few photos on the website of examples with rounded leaves. It said the middle of the three leaves has a longer stem than the other two--check. Although, I'm sure there are other plants that have the same. It said the stems were hairy, easiest to see when they start growing up walls. Well, this was just a small plant, but when I enlarged the photo I took, yes, a fine layer of hair on the stems. And the leaves were alternating--check.
So, I will send the photo to my gardening friend to see what she thinks. I think it could have been poison ivy, but it also could have been something innocent.
What I did NOT know about poison ivy, but learned on this website, was how bad the reactions could be. I figured it would be a red, itchy rash that would hurt if you scratched it. I saw photos of people with what looked like huge red burns with giant weeping blisters all over their arms. And some photos of affected faces with eyes swollen completely shut. I don't know if everyone could have that reaction or only people who fall into it and roll around in it--or who are especially sensitive--but it's scary. I'm getting quite an education with my new gardening explorations.

Good morning all!!! notanotherdecade - oh my Morocco would be amazing to visit!! (daydreams or IRL) sue5000 - I am sure you have so much to do but make sure you pace yourself and give yourself time just to rest your mind and body. def6 - I imagine you want to hit those miserable areas while it's cool! It's exceptionally cool here in WA this am. My hands are cold! I'm not going to go crazy and turn on the heat or anything. But it's only 56 degrees outside at 9:30. We should hit mid 70's. This is the weather I like. I don't like it too cold, not too hot. desposito - Oh boy still problems finding the water! Here too -- well for the Powerade, etc hubby likes. I have grocery delivery scheduled for around 4 pm today. They booted a bunch of my things out of my cart right away last night. I am hoping I get him some Propel at least! Good news is that hubby started his new route today which is not far out in the sticks and it's a lot less delivery time so he won't have those bathroom problems. ohblondie - oh brother with the coffee and then the dog! This sounds like our house. It's a chain reaction of mishaps! on laundry being caught up. I never say it anymore. I hate to even think it! phoenixcat - Good morning! I hope your day is off to a good start! bree - I understand that constant state of tired. Good luck with your personal finance stuff today. I got mine caught up yesterday! phew it's tiring! I had done our checkbook the day before, but I had a bunch of spreadsheet entries for July and August for my daughter as we keep track of all food expenses here and then have to charge her for her portion.

Oh, and I also looked up "bottled water shortage" and found an article saying there IS a shortage, and it's due to manufacturers having trouble getting the materials they need to make the plastic bottles! Great...
Phoenixcat, I had a Brita water pitcher once, and I didn't like it. The water tasted better than tap water, but still had a funny flavor to it, and if I looked closely at the water I saw those teeny black particles--from the charcoal filter, I guess. I gave the pitcher away. I did actually think about that pitcher yesterday while thinking about what will happen if I just can't get any bottled water--I'm sure I would prefer drinking the water from the pitcher rather than the tap. But, I figure that if I can get any brand of water, even if it's not perfect, it would probably be better than tap water, so an off-brand and the pitcher water would probably be the same.
I've seen ads for something called a Zero water filter which is supposed to be much better than Brita--I wondered how that water tastes--obviously I would prefer to not buy water in plastic bottles all the time. But, I suppose if there's now a bottled water shortage there will also be water filter shortages! I will hope that this is not a long lasting thing. And I hope that the next thing that happens is not another toilet paper shortage! I'm tempted to stock up again...
Well, now it's time for lunch. Today I have to vacuum some floors and clean the upstairs bathroom since the handyman is coming tomorrow. The downstairs one is clean but the handyman goes all over the house so you never know where he'll end up. He's worked on this house for so long he seems to feel a responsibility for it, so he always goes around asking me how various things are working.
I need to get to the library but will probably do that tomorrow.

OH! I am so envious! Even on this cooler day, it's hot out in the back yard in the sun. Tonight it's supposed to get down to lower 60s so I will open all windows before going to bed!

Starting my day off tired -- oops, not a good sign. I stayed up way to late last night! Usually I go to bed around 10 pm. At 9:30 last night I saw a post from one of our directors for one of the companies I am a consultant with. "Who is staying up until midnight?" EEK!! We had a big launch of Fall items today. Usually on launch day, it's 10:00 am, but occasionally they release items at midnight! I had a couple things to order for 2 customers who gave me their preorders and wanted to make sure they got them. So I wasn't in bed until 12:30 and listened to hubby snore until 1:30. I was thinking "oh I can sleep in." Not really. My 15 yo started school yesterday so 6:30 is the time to make sure she's up! Other kids slept in until 9 today though. Drank coffee -- much needed! K's bath routine done K's bed stripped & made Laundry rotated PEEP'd bathroom after K's bath (she reorganizes every time she's in there, including putting soap on floor behind toilet!) Swept in front of lower litter box Quick scoop in litter boxes Posted in my VIP group and 2 parties that haven't closed - new launched items The cats and those boxes drive me nuts!! We got this awesome box that has really high sides, but is open on top and has a front cut out to walk in. Well only one cat will use it. The other one was peeing on the mat because she missed her old box. I had one not so high too but it didn't have the nice edges like their old box (that kind used the pellets and pads in the "pee drawer.") I got so tired of the pellet litter as the one cat that likes to throw things and really dig threw those out and someone they would get kicked all over the house. No matter what room you were in, you were at risk for getting a HARD litter pellet in the middle of the delicate part of your foot while walking. I did find a shallow box with a decent edge around it for the funny kitty who likes to put 1 foot in the box and one or two up on the edge so she's not really IN the box. BUT ... the other girl goes back and forth between both boxes so when she gets in that one, she throws a nice pile of litter out daily. I have to say I am IN LOVE with our new mat though! It's huge and so easy to sweep the litter up! She hadn't thrown any out in about 2 weeks, but we just changed out the litter in box boxes. I told my daughter next time to use a little less than the bag for that box and put more in the other. I am also in love with this new litter. It's expensive as heck but $40 a month to not have any stink and not those darn pellets and gross pee pads is worth it!

Diane I'm really happy things have cooled down so much. It looks like next by weekend through Tuesday we'll be back to mid 80's but then back down to the mid 70's again. I am so thankful I don't have an outside job!

Diane you carry a 24 water pack walking back from the store?
In my shopping cart! No, there's no way I could carry it home without the shopping cart. Even the heavy shopping cart can be hard to push when there are lots of broken sidewalks and curbs and many blocks to go--but I would be lost without my cart.
Angie, cats all have their own preferences about litter pans. Good for you for working with their different personalities, so many people want to give up their cats rather than try different pans or litter or locations. Your description of the litter going everywhere reminds me of my cat who had cerebellar hypoplasia, which affects their balance. When I first got him he would walk into the litter pan, try to turn around, and then fall over onto the side of the pan, knocking the pan completely over. I figured out that I needed to put the giant, sturdy pan in a corner directly touching two walls, and then he learned to lean against the wall while turning around--after that, very few mishaps. One of my big challenges was cats who start out peeing in a squat, but in the process, lift their butts up until the pee goes out of the pan. The only answer to that was covering the floor several feet in each direction with plastic mats and wiping up the overflow!
Then there was the cat who loved getting into the pan while playing with the other cats--he would hunker down into the litter pan with just his eyes peering over, and when another cat would pass by he would spring out, kicking litter every which way in the process! But he sure had a lot of fun...
Okay, I'm going to put my computer music on shuffle (loud enough to hear over the air conditioner) and force myself to do things.
TO DO:
Restock water in fridge 10 minutes PEEPing, 2nd floor Go through stack of mail Delete 10 hard emails
