Angie, cats all have their own preferences about litter pans. Good for you for working with their different personalities, so many people want to give up their cats rather than try different pans or litter or locations. Your description of the litter going everywhere reminds me of my cat who had cerebellar hypoplasia, which affects their balance. When I first got him he would walk into the litter pan, try to turn around, and then fall over onto the side of the pan, knocking the pan completely over. I figured out that I needed to put the giant, sturdy pan in a corner directly touching two walls, and then he learned to lean against the wall while turning around--after that, very few mishaps. One of my big challenges was cats who start out peeing in a squat, but in the process, lift their butts up until the pee goes out of the pan. The only answer to that was covering the floor several feet in each direction with plastic mats and wiping up the overflow!
Then there was the cat who loved getting into the pan while playing with the other cats--he would hunker down into the litter pan with just his eyes peering over, and when another cat would pass by he would spring out, kicking litter every which way in the process! But he sure had a lot of fun...
Diane it's definitely a process finding something that works for them AND us. !! We had these rubber pats before under the boxes and they worked good when we had our older 3rd cat before she passed. We kept one box closer to the living space for her and the other boxes down the hall in our linen closet. 2 years ago I had my husband take the sliding closet doors off our hallway linen closet and take off the bottom shelf. This gave ample space for the cat boxes. He had those 2 rubber mats side by side, but someone one was just a little off. So if kitty missed the box or the pee pads didn't get changed before filling up, then we had pee leaking off the rubber mats and under onto the wood floor. The mat we have now is amazing! I got a huge one so it fills that whole closet. There is room for both boxes and plenty of excess on both sides and a lot in the front where they come out. They seem to have taken a liking to sitting and laying on this mat during the day and night. It's not really "carpet" like but I guess they like it. I think that we've found a good mix for them though. The girl who likes to stand up on the edges of the box is the one with much longer hair so it's probably for the best so she doesn't get crusty butt hairs. As for the one who throws the litter, she's just a jerk. It's her personality.

Okay, scholar usually wins this award, but I think this qualifies for a phrase never before seen in this forum:
crusty butt hairs.
Yes, keeping long haired cat butts clean is a whole 'nother subject!
Next:
Wash last of dishes, clean out dishpan and sink 10 minutes PEEPing, 2nd floor Make some book notes Sweep porch room, hallway, bathroom

crusty butt hairs. Well you ladies just made my afternoon!!!!! Time to toss the towels in the dryer......I have been picking up clothes from the floor and placing them in neat piles on my bed. Dirty clothes getting tossed in the wash. No idea what I will do with the neatly folded piles. Summer clothes I am slowly gathering and getting ready to put away.

good afternoon!
I had a root canal repaired, crossing my fingers it will heal and I can keep the tooth. The other tooth will have to be extracted. It is my wisdom tooth that took the place of one that was extracted, so it lasted a long time, but because it was at a weird angle apparently I cracked it. So now I have to get a mouth guard.
Today I was able to make follow up appts w/ DDS and also call DPs and catch them up. I also cancelled the window pick up in the am and rescheduled it for next week. Napping the rest of the day. Except for transferring money out of savings, $igh.
laundry is the opposite of caught up, I am almost out of undies and definately out of pajamas. maybe I will be able to handle that later tonight.
keep up the good work, everypony!

Not sure if all vets say this but when we would have the "butt hairs" shaved to prevent the crusty part - our vet called it a "pantie cut".

Diane, I don't know this for sure, and I didn't look it up, but I think people who have rash/blisters/reaction to poison ivy on their faces are those who have touched their faces after touching the poison ivy or after scratching themselves. I know that it's important to not scratch so that you don't transfer the offending chemical, but that the itch is really difficult to resist. I am wishing you the good luck of having a plant that only resembles the bad stuff!

I love all my fellow work-alongers!
Scholar, I hope your dental work is successful, you sound like you came through it with a minimum of trauma.
Goldenthreads, yes, the swollen faces were from people rubbing their eyes while unknowingly pulling out poison ivy. I think I have been forewarned, I will now make sure I'm wearing gloves when pulling ANY weeds out, since I don't know what's lurking in between.
TT, I hope you can relax tonight and that tomorrow will be better!
I rested for a while after my last post, and then I went outside and cut the front and side grass, and then cut about 1/3 of the back grass. I waited until the sun was completely gone, and the temperature outside was almost pleasant! My foot really hurts now, and I have a feeling it will hurt more tomorrow, but I feel so much better now that I got such a big chunk of the mowing done. I did not use the weed whacker, that will be later.
The dog has been out but not fed, I have to start getting ready for bed now--the handyman will be here in the morning.
Good night everyone, see you at some point tomorrow.

When we were kids and might have gotten into poison ivy, we would gently wash hands arms and legs with Fels Naptha laundry soap. Works good. And they still make it! π

Good morning β Cool 55f here. 70s later.
I'm getting more bags and boxes ready to go to mom's house because I found more stuff in the basement that can go to the thrift shop. More cleaning today too. Cobwebs and dirty air vents.
Brother is working on minor repairs after work.
Sister still working on paperwork.
Now we are disagreeing about whether to do a For Sale by Owner or list the house with a realtor. It's 3 against 1 right now. π

Hello jendela!
Good morning everyone, I finished up morning stuff, the handyman is here now, and most of his time will be in the front, painting the trim on the windows, the sides of the porch, and the area above the porch. While he's out there I'll try to get some work done in here, since painting trim is not something I need to watch him do. He is going to put a new part on the outside dryer vent, I'll want to see how he does that.
It did get cool overnight, I got the temperature inside down to 72, but of course, it's already going up in the upstairs.

Hi sue!
You do save a lot by not using a realtor, but unless one of you knows what they're doing, there could be pitfalls. My shopping friend is selling her home without a realtor, but that's because she already had two people interested in buying it the minute they found out she was selling. If you just plan on advertising it, someone has to be available to take people through constantly--and I'm guessing that would end up being you!
Good luck deciding.
Diane
