Good morning!
I have to leave in 30 minutes for the optometrist, and before that decide if I should take the dog out before or after I go. I'm only going to the one place and it shouldn't be a long appointment, so I should be able to wait.
I spent the morning doing online research on plants. I'm trying to figure out what to plant this fall, and good thing I did the research, because I found out I should wait until after the first hard frost to plant seeds. There are so many great pollinator plants out there, but I'm trying to figure out if they will grow in my zone. I have some good ideas now so will have to buy some seed.
I did some research on hummingbirds and there are some in this area, but I don't know if it's worth trying to plant for them, I'd probably need a lot of plants for them to notice and hang out here. Or I can buy clothing with pictures of plants on them and stand in the middle of the yard!
Okay, I have to get moving, see you later!

I'm back home already--yet another example of people making things unnecessarily complicated. When I called on Thursday and said I'd like to pick up my glasses on Friday morning, they said I needed an actual appointment because they were going to check them out. They had no morning appointments on Friday so I made one for today.
I get there and asked if I should take out my contact lens right away before they checked the glasses, they said, oh no, we won't check your vision with the glasses unless you really want us to. You can just put them on and see if they fit correctly on your head. The entire thing took 60 seconds, with one of the front desk people.
So...why did they tell me I needed an appointment? Why couldn't I have done this on Friday?
So, I am home, I will take the dog out and cool off.

So, I rested and cooled off for about an hour and then I went to the hospital for the blood work I needed. It was during the noon hour and I thought there might be a lot of people there on their lunch hours, but I was the only person there and got right in and out. So that's another thing to check off my list!
I was hoping to take the dog for a walk when I came home but it's just too hot. So now I have to cool off again.

Hello dtesposito sounds like you're getting things checked off your list today. I saw and took a photo of a beautiful blue butterfly collecting nectar from wildflowers. I think it was a blue swallowtail. I was able to get really close without spooking it. I'll try to post the photo when I can figure it out. 1 large tote of random Stash n Dash items gone from the laundry room. Part of the September challenge.

Hello def and TML!
A blue butterfly sounds beautiful def, I've probably only seen a few that color, ever. We have the small white ones, Monarchs, and the ones that look like Monarchs, which I think are called Red Admirals. Seeing anything else would be really unusual.
The walks this morning have made one of my feet hurt really bad, but I rested it during the 90 minutes talk to my shopping friend.
I just took the dog out, still really warm, and I was so sad to see a dead mourning dove in the corner of the yard. I did see a dead sparrow much earlier in the summer, and was afraid it might be that virus, but then, nothing more--and I guess it makes sense that some birds will die, and they will die near where they spend most of their time. Ever since the handyman dug up the yard, there have been 7-8 doves digging around in the dirt patches every day--I don't think of them as insect eaters although I guess they can be--I'm thinking maybe they're finding some interesting seeds that were uncovered.
So I went back inside for bags and a glove and removed the dead dove. Now I'm thinking of the dove's mate, if it had one...I don't know why I always think of all the sad things.
I'm going to do one list before dinner, the first list of the day...
10 minutes on plants 10 minutes on PEEPing second floor Get load of laundry ready in hamper to wash Empty bag from this morning

oh my goodness - I had a nice response typed out and my keyboard got wonky and I had to log out and log back in. Hmmmmmm
I ended up working an hour late today and I just got dinner cooking. I am trying to clean out the freezer and cupboards again. I emptied one pantry shelf today - wiped out the shelf then tossed so much expired food. So much of it was purchased just before I moved in with my parents and I lost track of what was in there. I will do another shelf tomorrow.
I am falling into a pattern of doing so much on saturday - spending Sunday doing stuff with parents - then not updating here until Monday.
Saturday I cleaned the short part of the hallway outside my room. Think of an L - and I did the bottom of the L. I made a horrible discovery. There were two laundry baskets, two boxes and whole lot of "stuff". I pulled out a grapevine wreath and donated it. One laundry basket now has clothes to go to the dry cleaner. One box has stuff to go through - like a old school adding machine calculator that is missing an important piece, that is due to be tossed. I found the jacket to husband's suit. I remember bagging up pants that I had no idea who they belonged to. You know where this is headed. I think I donated DH's pants to his suit. I will head to thrift shop tomorrow to check. We have a funeral this week and if we have to - we can get another suit at Boskov's. they have separates that are reasonably priced.
In the afternoon I helped my mom at my parents old house. He half of the walk in closet is empty and a huge pile to go to the rummage sale. We found her white gloves that she wore at her wedding that I want to somehow incorporate into my DD's wedding.
Sunday was an ice cream social where my parents are and we made a new friend. it was nice to sit and chat and get to know another resident. I also helped my aunt do some stuff at her apartment.
Sunday night I hung a new shower curtain liner and continued to work on getting bathroom stuff all organized, one basket for "beauty products", a small basket for makeup and a small basket for medication. The large basket is left and that will be general stuff for the bathroom - DH brush, qtips, etc. It helps to have it all in one place to be able to "see" what I have and what I need.
Soon very soon I will need to get summer stuff away and fall stuff out. We were pulled out of the office and sent back home so my clothes are all kinds of confused.
OK - enough rambling...I am looking around for another pile to attack

I'd love to see a blue butterfly, too. Viceroys also look a lot like monarchs. (For a long time it was taught that viceroys mimicked the monarch pattern and coloration and that it afforded them protection from predators because monarchs are somewhat toxic to birds. Then someone studied the viceroys, and it turns out they're just as toxic as monarchs!) I hope a good rest will help your feet.

Ohblondie, is the old school calculator the kind where you press buttons and they stay down, and then you pull a crank? I think I remember one of those from my childhood!
Golden, you are right--I got the Red Admiral mixed up with the Viceroy--Red Admiral is similar coloring but not similar pattern, Viceroy looks almost the same as a Monarch except for one stripe, which of course, you can never see while they are fluttering around. This reminds me of my dog walk to the park--wow, it would be 2 summers ago now--where the butterfly followed us for 2 blocks and then sat down with us on a park bench. I saw more butterflies in my old neighborhood, I think because people had more elaborate gardens there. And there were several people who had pollinator gardens, which I didn't really appreciate at the time but I think they planted the seed in my brain about maybe having my own mini-pollinator garden.
I guess I'll stop for dinner now, I feel bad about not getting much done today. My foot is really killing me now, even when I sit perfectly still with no weight on it I keep getting stabs of pain. Hopefully it will be better by tomorrow.

Good morning, I'm up early, didn't sleep well, partly because of my foot. I'm not sure what happened, but it's still hurting a day later, that's never happened before.
I'm waiting to take the dog out in 20 minutes or so. Then the library as soon as they open, it's supposed to be hot again today.

Sort of following Marie Kondo. Starting with Clothing. I have organized my socks and underwear drawers. Threw out tons of holey underwear and unmatched socks. So much room in the drawers !

Good morning Jannie, doesn't it feel good to actually have spare room in your dresser?
The dog has been out, it's very humid outside--there's a chance of rain later today and I really hope we have it, it's been several weeks with no rain. Still over an hour before I can go to the library.
This foot pain is so weird, it hurts some when I'm walking, so that I have to walk kind of slowly. But it really hurts when I sit down and take my weight off it--that's when there are sudden sharp pains. So strange.
I really need to do some yard work before the handyman comes back on Thursday, but I'm afraid it's just too hot again today--tomorrow the temperature will go down some. I would at least like to rake up a bit of the dry grass since the yard waste can still has a cubic foot or two of space left, the cans go out to the street today.
TO DO:
Clean up after breakfast and wash some dishes Write out a check for the real estate tax bill Find envelope, address and stamp Delete 30 emails
