I agree with goldenthreads the Viceroy is the copycat of the Monarch. We have a big pond in my town that has thousands of milkweed plants around it. I'm glad we are doing our part! 👍 A few years ago, a county park *** near here had to postpone some renovations because it was discovered to be a popular habitat of the Karner Blue butterfly. That's the only blue butterfly I know. *** See "Necedah National Wildlife Refuge" article on Wikipedia.

sue5000 We have a Karner Blue Butterfly protected area near where I live.... It is a popular area to hike in. Sunday I saw a beautiful Monarch Butterfly that kept flying around the courtyard of the ALF where my parents are. There are three butterfly bushes planted in the center area. It was so beautiful to see.....

Good morning ohblondie!
I looked up the park and the butterfly, how odd that it has blue in its name but it's not blue. I'm glad to see that they're protecting it, though.
The gutter people are scheduled for today, they were supposed to call last night with an estimate of when they would be here, but they did not. It doesn't matter, I'll be here all day, I would just like to know when to expect them.
Today is the one cooler day of the week, this morning when I took the dog out it was beautiful, so I spent some time raking through the remaining piles of grass from the tilling--I'm finding that as they dry I can just gently rake the dried grasses out and save some of the dirt.
I'm only eating breakfast now, I got a good night's sleep last night for a change, and slept late.

Well, I was able to clear out another bag from the laundry room. I am debating whether or not to donate the paraffin hot wax spa that you can put your hands n feet in and them peel the wax off....hmmm, tempting!

Good morning everypony!
DXH told me his sign was a yellow butterfly, so I have been paying attention. See them almost every day. First the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (the state insect) and now the Clouded Sulpher. There are 160 species here!
I have been catching up on admin stuff this morning. Discovered that I had mailed a packet that I have been looking for already. The joys of dissociation! Well thank you whoever took care of that!

So it's 7.30 on a September evening and the sun is almost down, we're due another fortnight of reasonable weather according to the forecasters , so I've got time to get the house autumn ready,, and that takes me up to about when I promised family could come visit...Yikes ... TBH I think I'm going to have to warn them not to expect miracles ,,and yep one of the rooms will have to be closed off... So something stuck me the other day, my parents will soon be 80,, there won't be that many years left that they CAN come visit, I would love them to feel that I can cope and not be a failure, I don't want to think that they will die worrying about me . Sooo anyway, today had a good suprise, my bookcase arrived, and after a false start it got put together,, and a small box of "worthy books" which I'm never going to read got put aside for donation...., My books are as much about my identity and roots as about having a good read, and today's session spurred me on.... And tried something different, rummaging to the back of the most higgledy piggledy room, and amazingly it got results!! Today was supposed to be a garden day. but at least the extra day has allowed the surfaces to dry out after our downpour this week, so will aim to lever in some plants I still have in pots and even start a few seeds for autumn growing in the greenhouse & windows. Anyway those grey hairs won't cover themselves, so time for a bit of vanity and pretend that I'm not aging as fast as I am .

Oh decade, this is such a profound line that it stopped me in my tracks:
My books are as much about my identity and roots as about having a good read
I was sitting in my downstairs living room yesterday, looking at all the nonfiction books I have on the bookshelves, and seeing specific ones that I haven't read yet, or ones I read a long time ago and loved but haven't looked at, and thought--do I really need all of these books? And I thought, but I got rid of all the expendable books when I moved, these books are IMPORTANT. I need to see these books, and be able to look through them whenever I want, no matter where I'm living, I need these books.
And what you said summarizes what I was feeling so perfectly, these books ARE my identity, they represent who I've been for my entire life and who I will be til I die.
That's why I feel like I need one more bookcase, so that ALL the important books are on the first floor instead of packed away in the basement. The rest of the books in the basement or my little storage areas upstairs are maybes, or "to-be-reads", but really, if I didn't have them I would be fine. But the important books are so tied up in who I am.
So thank you for that idea.
Now, on the other hand, I disagree with you about grey hair--I LOVE my grey hair and would never hide it--that's my identity too! "Getting old, so what!"
You have a great motivation to have your folks come to visit, and two weeks is a lot of time, I hope you can take advantage of it. Have you written out a plan of attack?

Fortune has smiled on me today, I went downstairs because I had a pile of stuff to bring down there (including the CD player which I can't get to work so it's going out) and when I looked out the kitchen window I could see the birdbath water and drinking water were filthy. So I made a special trip to the yard just to refresh the water. As I was finishing up, I heard someone calling me from the fence, it was the FedEx delivery guy, who had my new phone, and he needed a signature or he wouldn't have been able to leave it--he said he saw me in the yard. If I had been inside, especially upstairs, I wouldn't have heard him knocking, I don't have a doorbell--so my phone would have been taken back to be delivered at some future time.
Not that I'm ready to try to set it up today, but I feel a lot better having it in my possession.
And when I came back inside, I stood at the kitchen window for about 10 minutes, just watching the birds. I have never seen such birdbath action--there were sparrows fighting for a spot on the edge, probably 10-12 birds at a time trying to drink and bathe. And it's not even that hot today--the poor things. I'm sure the water is dirty again already, but I'll be going out in an hour or so with the dog and can change it again then.
And yes, I think the birds are getting used to me, because after I filled up the bath and walked about 12 feet over to look at the bees on the flowers, the birds already started coming back to the bath, even though I was still there. Or else they were just so desperate for a bath that they decided to come anyway.
While I was downstairs I started another load of laundry.
Next I'm going to look at the hardware store site to see their sale flyer, and email a question to the handyman.
Oh, and since I complained about it so much yesterday, I probably should report that my foot is way, way better today, just an occasional mild twinge.

yes, my books are very much a statement about who I am, what I have studied, what I have been through, what I stand for... I always check out other people's bookshelves for the same reason!
I ran my errands but forgot to bring the paperwork to mail. oh well, I will send it regular mail, its not urgent. I could not find the other paperwork; maybe somepony did that errand as well??
glad your foot is better, Diane!
