Day 1
I'm combining the reset programs from "A Slob Comes Clean" and "The Secret Slob" with the hope of a much more inviting, manageable, cleaner, easier home.
I'm committing to doing something every day, and commenting on it: a Key accountability component. I don't expect perfection of myself. I do expect diligent effort from myself.
"28 Days to Hope for your Home" is about instilling 4 basic core habits taking one week to build each habit before adding the next.
1. Doing dishes every day (all of them) 2. Sweep the kitchen every day 3. Check bathrooms for clutter every day 4. 5 minute pick up every day
"21 days to a clean home" is a simplified Fly Lady approach. The Secret Slob has a youtube video for each of the steps.
1. shine sink 2. dress to shoes (or equivalent) 3. 2 minute hot spot 4. make bed 5. establish dishes system 6. make weekly plan 7. power tidy 8. daily clutter 9. establish a laundry routine 10. floor check 11. digital detox 12. swish the bathroom 13. prep for tomorrow 14. weekly clean 15. plan and pay 16. anti procrastination day 17. self care day 18. car and bag day 19. meal plan 20. zone clean 21. weekly clean

Results Day 1
1. Do the dishes I didn't do all of the dishes. I did make sure all the clean dishes were put away. I also forced myself to put my dirty dishes into the dishwasher. I didn't expect that step to be so ridiculously hard to talk myself into doing. However, IF I want my family to place their dishes into the dishwasher, I have to show that this is the regular, expected practice. I also requested son #3(age23) to finish loading and run the dishwasher before bed.
1. Shine sink NOpe, didn't happen. Though, I had cleaned most of the sink not more than 2 days before. I did get dressed. Yay.
Results Day 2
1. Do the dishes. Son hadn't run the dishwasher the night before. He remembered and did it right after breakfast. I hand washed things that overfill the counters. I randomly looked for and picked up trash as I noticed it. knowing the 5 minute tidy is just around the corner, I also found myself taking things to their homes, resisting the urge to ignore or set things down wherever. I tidied stuff when I was in the bathroom. One or two things tidied multiple times, adds up. Dishwasher filled and ran before bed. Many more dishes still to do.
1. Shine the Sink One sink side somewhat cleaned.
2. Dress to shoes (or equivalent readiness) I showered. I dressed. I brushed my hair. I don't do shoes inside. I did dress so I wouldn't totally embarrass my 13 year old Daughter when I picked her up after school. We've started using the exercise bikes at the fitness center next to her school.
Results Day 3
1. Do the dishes. It was really nice comeing into the Kitchen and seeing a mostly empty cleanish sink and having clean dishes in the dishwasher. DD did her 10 min kitchen clean, including putting away clean dishes and refilling the dishwasher after breakfast.

Go you!! I've been following A Slob Comes Clean since the end of July. The first night with the dishes was HARD, but it turns out that Dishes Math is a thing, and if you do the dishes every night it DOES only take 5-10 minutes. Who knew? Just doing the dishes has had a knock on effect in the rest of the house. DH has even started using the language himself (take it there now/five minute pick up etc). ASCC has a great way of putting things and I love listening to her podcasts on the way to and from work. Her two decluttering questions have revolutionised the way I/we declutter. We've been working on the house since 24/7 and for the first time in years I wouldn't be embarrassed to have someone drop in almost all the time. The irony of that is that we're in a strict lockdown and haven't been able to go anywhere or see anyone since the middle of June. I'm allowed to visit my dad because he lives on his own, but I can't see anyone else and no one is allowed to visit here.
