I spent 20 minutes on the Box of Things (#11). I tossed a few things, and have a few more for donation. Some others I am keeping and have put away. It's now gone from full to about 3/4 full. Unswamping Setting up a functional office sounds like a fine goal.

I went through the small Box #8. Half of it I dealt with properly, and the other half got added to Box #9 (the basket). So now #8 is empty. All I have to do now is finish with one more box and I will have met goal. The remaining boxes are fuller and bigger, though.
I also thought of a few more things to add to my gift wish list for the family.

Hello everyone! Golden, you are chipping away at those boxes!
Scholar, a holiday part outside--didn't you just say it was 34 degrees by you? Or is that only in the early morning.
Swampy, I love your list! I always think it's good to have several options to work on depending on what's going on and how you feel.
We are 2/3 through the first month of the challenge--as like all holiday seasons, the rest of these months will go by quickly too. As for me, I have to really step it up, I'm doing things but not enough challenge things.

Okay, in the last 5 days I have only done 20 minutes on plant room cleaning, and potted up two cuttings.
However, one has been here almost a year--a neighbor gave me 2 cuttings from a large plant she has in her living room just before Christmas last year. She told me she has cuttings from this plant in water and she just keeps them there and they never die. It took a LONG time for them to root, I was just about to give up on them when I noticed roots finally forming. I have left it in water all this time and it looks okay, but it just makes sense to put it in some soil so I finally did that. The neighbor doesn't know the name of the plant, it looks a lot like my dracaena plants, but mine have leaves only at the tips of the stems, whereas this one has leaves every inch or two along the stems. I've looked up different varieties of dracaena and can't find anything that looks like this, so I don't know what it is--that bugs me, so I'm going to keep researching. But for now it's in soil, I hope it does okay.
The second cutting is some kind of pothos that I got from the library--it has a little golden shading to the green so it might be called golden pothos. It's now in a small pot.
1. CLOTHING--get ready for winter GOAL 40 minutes
2. CLEANING--other than routine things GOAL 3 hours and 10 minutes
3. BASEMENT GOAL 1 hour and 20 minutes
4. FRIDGE CLEANING
5. PLANT ROOM CLEANING 1 hour done
6. POST MORE BOOKS FOR TRADING 10 out of a GOAL of 10 This project is done.
7. READ BOOKS FROM MY OWN STASH GOAL 2 I have started reading the nonfiction book I chose for this, but decided not to continue with the fiction, so I need to choose a different fiction book.
8. CURRENT FILING 30 minutes done
9. OLD PAPER 10 minutes done out of a GOAL of 2 hours
10. PLANT CUTTINGS GOAL - (Still don't have a count of them) 4 containers of spider plants, graptosedum, golden pothos? and my mystery plant (maybe dracaena) cuttings done
11. ENCLOSED SPACES GOAL - Reorganize as many of them as possible 1 drawer done (wallet drawer) - 1 cabinet done (3 shelves of kitchen items and food)
12. OFFICE SUPPLIES & STATIONERY ORGANIZATION

I am not doing well on my goal main thing. I was supposed to straighten up and clean the den. And I'm NOT. I may not do much on it at all. I believe I chose unwisely. Other things should have come earlier, like outside work. The den could could wait until January or later , when it is too cold out to do outside work. Various other things , including Christmas prep, have become too much to handle , and still make the den a priority.
I haven't been layzee or uncaring, but I am doing the "wrong" things, that is, I am not doing the things I thought would be best, the den. I believe I would be better off just doing , in addition to basics and regular cleaning, whatever extras seem wise moves AT THE TIME. So if I can do some on the den--fine--and if it has to slide until a more appropriate time---then so be it.
But I WILL still be busy !!
And I WILL still tell about it.

Thank you Diane for starting off the Winter Work List! I am very much in need of it.
Today I am just going to putz about the house and work on things as I go. I have so much that needs to be done that a general uplifting of the house is good for today and then tomorrow I will laser focus in on some areas.

goldenthreads good job on going through those boxes and letting some things go. Great work on putting things away.
mylittlescholar great work on paper processing and making some files. I know that’s hard work!
desposito I’m glad that plant finally rooted. I had a cutting like that once, the person that gave it to me warned me it would take a while. Unfortunately crazykitty got to it (double attraction - green stuff and water ).
catcats sometimes we choose a goal and it’s not the best fit for the present time. It seemed like a good idea but reality is, it isn’t right now. It’s ok to change your mind and work on what’s really important right now. The den’s time will come, it just isn’t right now. Don’t stress over it. You are doing things, that’s what counts! Cheering you on!
TML welcome! Putzing around is good! I’m doing that today too.
I have laundry started. I would like to tackle bathroom shelf/rod today but first I need to deal with mt wash more. While laundry is doing, I’m puttering in other rooms, doing small things to make things better. Really small things like crushed two water bottles and put in recycling bag, small stuff that doesn’t seem worth itemizing but if I keep going will make things much better. Maybe I will just count the small things.

got three loads of laundry done (still more to do). Did six small things. Got everything together that I need to do shelf/rod project, will probably do that first thing in the morning. Took down something hanging in bathroom, so that’s one more thing to add to hanging project. It’s a simple hang, just one screw.

Ditto what Unswamping said!
Reviewing my list, I guess I have been working on three projects: the clothes and the decorations and the routines.
I am close to being done with the clothes:
pulled the summer clothes folded some into a bin hung others in wardrobe box put aside a decent amount for donation retrieved the winter clothes reorganized the closet - went through drawers and sorted the pants and leggings
- took two bin to the attic
- and an empty clothes rack to fill with short items
then going through some clothes in a catalogue I am considering to see if any would actually increase the wear-ability of what I have. I have a bit more to bin, then I need to take that bins to the attic. I also need to decide what to do with the last two hanging racks; one of which is full.
then tackle swapping the summer/winter shoes
I am blogging about the decorations in the holiday prep folder. it is fun but time and space consuming!
I am making some progress incorporating three new things in my am routine:
- AM antihistamine with a half hour wait before coffee
- write dreams in journal
I can't remember the third thing
PM routine needs help. I get anxious letting go of the phone.

mylittlescholar great job on clothes! I understand the anxiety about the phone. Is there something you can substitute? A good book, a puzzle book (don’t know if you find that relaxing, I do, plus it helps divert my attention from worrying etc)?
I got the shelf and rod hangers up. Covered shelf with wrapping paper, it isn’t as ugly now. Was struggling about rod. I have one but it’s too long and it’s metal. Not something I want to cut in house. Plus it actually belongs to a closet that I took the rod out of, more storage space for what I have in there. I did hunt around and found a thin rod that is long enough to fit. It’s good enough for empty hangers. Got my toilet paper hoard stashed on shelf. I can’t buy anymore for a while, it all just fit. I will see if lowes sells a rod the right length. Maybe i should just look around some more, although I doubt I have a closet rod piece big enough. A little worried about the shelf, it is sagging a bit in middle. It’s plywood but not very thick. I thought I had a better piece somewhere but I can’t find it. It was the right depth and length so it’s good enough for now. So project done.

yes, sometime our lists are just not realistic. I have come to think of them as psychic predictions about the future, that may or may not be accurate!
Did more work on my clothing project: -
declutter and store summer
-
hang, etc. winter - bonus:
reorganize closet
- organize drawers
- create shoe storage
... and the holiday decor. I am going to do my pm routine tonight.

cat cats I’ve changed goals midway and this time I was part way through before I even came up with goals. Hope you are having a good day today!
mylittlescholar great job on closet! I like that, psychic predictions that may or may not come through.
got all ten large bags loaded in car and dropped off. I had to bring them to the front and a nice worker guy was coming up with a cart. I put two bags in and he asked if that was all. I said no, I have eight more bags in the car. So he wheeled the cart out over to my car and I put them straight into the cart. I asked about furniture and he said yes they take it. I said I would bring it tomorrow. I will be able to bring it to back door then. I stacked all the empty totes last night and they are sitting where donations where. Not sure what I am going to do with them. Right now if I continue decluttering, it’s great to stash stuff in a tote and put a lid on it so kitties aren’t wrecking havoc.
