Back about 10 years ago I purchased the first edition of the book " Buried in Treasures: Help for Acquiring, Saving, and Hoarding", by Tolin, Frost, and Steketee. I never got anywhere with it on my own. Midway through 2021 I found a group here that was going through the 2nd edition of the book. I jumped in several weeks late and attempted to catch up. We got nearly halfway, but then our organizer, peaceseeker had health problems, and the facilitator had other obstacles, and things sort-of fizzled out. I really felt like I needed the support of the group to continue on. At the time when I joined the group, I couldn't locate my physical copy of the book (and I knew that it was the old edition), so I purchased the 2nd edition as a Kindle version. (I recommend that if you purchase the kindle version that you keep a dedicated notebook or file for your notes. There are forms, questionnaires, and writing assignments each week. I kept writing mine on random pieces of paper, and then weeks later when we were asked to refer back to them I couldn't find them.) I would really like to start going through this book as a group in January 2023. I found a BiT group facilitator's guide online, so even though I don't have experience as a facilitator, I have agreed to post the discussion questions from the guide to the group discussion pages. (The facilitator's guide to the second edition may be found here: doczz.net/doc/5343162/buried-in-treasures-workshop-facilitator-s-guide just in case anyone would like to review the material.) I'll be adding this content starting after session 5. since that is where PaperGrace left off. The thread with all of the links where the group will relaunch from can be found here: takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/33150/buried-treasures-peer-support-group?page=1 I plan to re-read the book from the beginning, and will be redoing most the assignments as well with a start date of January 1st. I hope to complete one session each week. It should take about 16 weeks, or about 4 months to complete. Everyone is welcome to join into the discussions! By the way, I did find my 1st edition of the book today, after ordering a used 2nd edition yesterday, and I still have access to the Kindle so if anyone wants me to help with where we are in any version of the book, I should be able to help.

Hi @ally, I am considering buying the Kindle version (now 3rd edition) but I'm not sure if you are too far ahead to work on this together. Also, I have a slightly different mix of issues. I think I do more "binge acquiring" in certain categories, leading to clutter, then disorganization, then apathy. I can release (some) things fairly easily in some categories, but then nothing (sentimental items) in other categories. Clothing is the most obvious problem, purging and rebuying, over and over. Less so is dealing with overall chaos as my "containers" (Dana White) are pretty large. However, it keeps me stuck, as the 'churn' in either physical or mental sense, keeps me stuck from working other other goals (spiritual, physical exercise and nutrition, relational, etc.). Let me know and thanks! PS: I will get a notebook as you suggested to work with the Kindle version.

The first couple of chapters can be moved through rather quickly and there are a few other people who have expressed interest in joining in. From prior experience, I have learned that the book wants us to refer back to the previous chapters, so I think it will be good for me to go back and review material from previous weeks as I go along.

I pressed send and bought the Kindle version on Amazon. It says I can take notes within the book, so I'll see if that's feasible or whether I should just buy a companion notebook.
For anyone else "sitting on the fence" as I was for a couple of years, today is a good day to try it. Groundhog day - I've experienced that many times on my SOOS journey.

I used the Nook version, maybe the Kindle version has more features, or maybe it had some features I wasn't aware of and therefor didn't use

Holy cow…I think one of the authors of this book is the same as the very difficult, can't-breathe book I am currently reading about hoarders. It is a very tough read.
PS: itsybitsy, you can take notes in Kindle books. Doing so now with the one I'm halfway through. I'm not sure if Nook has that feature.
