I saw the Dr late tonight. More antibiotics and the cats are still being separated. The vet said I need to slowly reintroduce them even though they are litter mates and up until the huge disaster last Friday loved each other dearly. Hi mylittlescholar maybe you and I could go sing the song of our depressed people until we feel better. [this comes from the cat singing me the song of his people at 2 am in the morning as i tell him to go back to bed. So I know there must be something to it.]. I had a thought I was doing over the weekend. I was doing my 10 min work, 10 min rest thing but instead I was 10 min I will pretend I am not depressed and do what I would do if not depressed (ie clean something), then for 10 min I will lay down and be depressed and stew about it while I internally complain about nothing on youtube or streaming. It seemed to work okay. I say to my self if I were not so depressed and I had 10 min to do something on house what would i do. Then i do it with timer on. |

Well i was going to show picture of arm getting better. I have another 5 days of antibiotics from Dr tonight to see if it can get all done. However the picture is too many MB to load.

TML, do you think the trick of rubbing the cats with towels and then rubbing their scent on to each other would work? It's usually for new cats who are not familiar with each other's scent, since this was an actual event that happened that freaked them out it might not work, but I don't think it would hurt. It also works if a cat comes back from the vet with hospital scents on them which upset the other cat(s).
Do you have any kind of barrier you could put up so they can see each other but not actually be together? I had a screen door on one of my rooms that worked really well so cats could see as well as smell each other while getting used to each other. Baby gates are too short since cats jump.
I know how scary it is when cats act like their own housemates are the enemy, hopefully time will help.
I'm waiting for the library to open, I might go to the pharmacy for the ATM also since I'll be out that direction anyway.

Diane I bought a cat gate for the bedroom. It is a tall gate that covers most of the door and you can put cardboard on the top 4 inches if needed. It works on tension like shower rod curtains but has multiple tension beams. I am hoping I can get that set up and then start feeding them so they can see each other and then keep moving them closer and closer. Supposedly when the regular door is open and they can see each other I am supposed to make it a pleasant experience for them to be near each other. Brushing, Toys, treats, so they get used to hanging out on opposite side of the gate then eventually they should start interacting and I can get them back together. Dog gates are too short as the cat could just jump over it.
So they are each in a room and I am waiting for the cat gate. This is the first time they have as far as I know ever been apart. They were litter mates and so bonded they just sleep in a pile and go to vet together and etc. I always worried what would happen if one of them passed away before the other but they seem to be okay with being apart - more so for the smarter tuxedo one than for the brown tabby who is pretty needy.

Wow, I didn't know there was such a thing as a "cat gate"! I installed a regular screen door on the second bedroom of my condo (actually two, because there was a little square entryway) and they were useful for so many occasions, cat intro, pigeon living quarters, sick cat isolation, aggressive cat isolation, taking care of friend's cats while they were on vacation, and then for the years when I fostered orphan kittens. Has anyone suggested pheromones? I've never personally used them but maybe if the gate doesn't work you could try those next.
I'm back from the library and pharmacy, I don't think my feet were totally recovered from the walk yesterday so they are sore again, but I'm sure they'll be better after a rest. I'll get to rest this afternoon during my 2-plus hour phone call.

I had lunch and now it's time for my phone call. I'm going to see if I can delete some emails while talking--I usually don't like to do that because it takes my attention away from the call but I think I can get rid of easy ones while talking and still pay attention.

I will join you in singing songs of depression TML. I am just having a dark week so far. I hope you heal up! Chaos is driving me crazy. I had five meetings w her yesterday and four today. Next Monday and Tuesday I have 11 meetings w her. It is more than I can take. My ears Hurt today from listening to her fir so long. I have Friday off (I took it off on anticipation of an interview for that job that I did not get and decided to keep it off) I am looking forward to not hearing her! Just doing the usuals. Getting ready for work, working, dishes, litter, some pick up, walking the dog. I have been cleaning and wiping tables and cupboards and sinks. Little clean ups Fighting off -not so successfully- sadness Diane I will pray for that sick cat |

I am trying to get my home together after the damage from the tornado last week. My power, water and internet are back up. Downstairs was flooded and the carpet was pulled up, and in the process of being dried.
TO DO
working on laundry wash dry, put away.
pickup things to toss on the floor
possibly wash dished
clean bathroom in sections
move clothes hanging up from downstairs to upstairs

Scrubbed bath and surrounds
Wiped down dusty areas in bathroom
Swept baseboards
Swept floor and scrubbed some problem areas
Threw out a few more items I reconsidered after previous chucking out session
Bleached (again!) and scrubbed gross sink plughole
Finished another bag of trash and added it to the growing pile in the hall
I was really hoping to head to the recycling centre today, but alas, people kept just wanting to chat after work and I didn't do well with setting boundaries.
