Good afternoon reve and scholar!
I had my phone call and then took the dog out, then I got a call from my senior client wanting me to order more books from the library. She still has a book on her record showing that it's out, I keep telling her about it and she says "oh, I told them I returned that". And I say, well, obviously they think you still have it out, you need to ask them to check it out. "But I told them I returned it." Apparently the library system where I used to live is just automatically renewing every book that isn't returned until someone else requests the book---so this has been going on for months. At some point the renewals will stop or someone will request the book and then I know she'll call and ask me why she's getting a phone message saying she has an overdue book.
I'm going to work on plants for a little while before dinner, I'm tired today and am looking forward to sleeping tonight.

cando kitties are making progress but are not buddies yet. They argued over the sunny spot today. Normally they pile up together and they were grouching over it. I do have my master bedroom door shut and they are getting used to it not being open access. I need to get it cleaned out of cat stuff and my bed redone for me. My Dr was like you need to get back into that master bedroom as I really do need the adjustable bed and stuff. The guest room bed I don’t do as well and I have my CPAP in the master bedroom too set up. oust it sounds like a nice TV stand. I hope you can get the chair too. DIane it will be cold here to on Friday. Supposed to be sub zero. peaceseeker I am glad you are doing okay and that DH was able to provide in times of need for your treatments. mylittlescholar $2000K/month seems omg for 400 square foot. I must live in a much cheaper area than i thought. bree sending hugs - for loneliness with DD not in house.

We got the furniture piece out of the car and into the garage. I had a 40 mile drive today and didn't want it in the back. I cooked some stuffing and rice as sides and will put them in the fridge soon Checked the seeds and we have 6 shoots up. I was excited and told DH, he ordered a bunch of stuff from amazon including 2 more hydroponic machines on sale. Apparently he has never been able to grow anything before and now believes we will have a small farm in the apartment. we'll see. Spot vacuumed abit today, havnig cream carpets makes it easy to see anything on the floor, but the kitchen needed more attention, crumbs everywhere no idea how it all gets on the floor.

My week is progressing right on schedule: Monday I worked and went and helped my mom shower and did some things around their apartment. Nothing was done at my house Tuesday I worked from home and went to a meeting from 6-8:30. I was able to cycle some laundry through and get clean clothes folded. I also ran the dishwasher overnight. I got a few items out of my car - it still looks like I live in the car. Weds I worked from home and went and helped my parents and was late to a meeting. I sat i the car in the driveway to participate in the meeting - it was awesome - no distractions. I managed to get the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded, I got the garbage out. Tonight I will run a load of laundry - DH is almost out of socks. I will also try to run the dishwasher again. I also will have to stop and get prescriptions for my parents. Friday night Iam usually so tired that I plop down and zone out. I have a couple of streaming services (Peacock 99cents a month; hulu 1.99 month) and I have a couple of favorite shows that I save to watch on friday or saturday nights.
DH has decided to retire in June. So I would like to do a nice party in the yard. I am thinking about renting a bigger tent and getting a caterer but still let people bring a dish to pass. Maybe even music! I must start the planning now and working on the house now.
OK time for work!

happy thursday! it is going to warm up to the 30s F today and the sun is going to come out! we have rarely seen blue skies and sun for weeks and weeks so I am excited about that and have planned puppy's walk for a late lunch this afternoon to soak in all that glory! TML thanks for your thoughts! missing DD... I am being pretty good with my little routines but they don't actually keep the house clean! reve I like your outfit ideas ohblondie having a goal like a retirement party can really help get a house clean, I am much better when I know people are coming over. congrats to DH on retiring. So I am forgetting to write things down. yesterday I had to work late, had to stop at grocery store (no wet cat food - an emergency!) and then I had planned a healthy not extremely humble dinner and dog walk. then remembered it was book club night! so I took pup for a quick walk, ate unhealthy snack dinner and went to meeting, it was good to socialize. all members mostly have kids who are off to college so they get it. then today I suddenly remembered I have a birthday dinner tonight -- no gift! I came up with a theme idea and i will make a store run today, I think I can get stuff at target. today is trash day so I emptied the trash and hauled that out. last night I did the litter - so dark, so cold, and black ice in my driveway! I have been keeping up with the dishes. i am most proud of getting my nighttime routine back on track. I love to brush my teeth and i brush them frequently but I am a reluctant flosser! I was really good when DD was younger to keep her on track, and it worked, she is a very diligent flosser now. I worked hard yesterday to get somewhat caught up at work. still behind but progress. I have a long list of tasks today and also need to pay bills! the apartment rent talk by mylittlescholar intrigued me. So, I happily let myself go on the internet and I think I could get a pretty nice one bedroom in my town for about $1200. my niece lived in a nice apartment nearby that was 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, washer and dryer, balcony, garage, pool, pets allowed and a little dog park, tennis courts, playground, really nice kitchen with all new appliances, I remember thinking i could live here and it is just about 1800 a month and about 1100 sf. To own, housing is affordable here, but the property taxes are extremely, extremely high. they are a shock to newcomers who are so happy with their affordable mortgages. ok i gotta work! more coffee. I have two simple projects to do.

Good morning, I am going to probably make some short posts because my internet is going in and out and I don't want to lose them.
Here's how my night went. I fell asleep around 10:30, and at 11:30 the dog woke me up to go out. It's unusual for her to do that so early, but I took her out, she peed and pooped and we came inside. About 15 minutes later she started panting and whining and wanted to go out again--we went out, and she started squatting everywhere--even in the dim light from the neighbor's porch light I could see that the urine in the snow was just a few drops and pink tinged.
So I found another of the old antibiotics I gave her when this happened a year ago and gave it to her, then over the next 3 hours took her out every half hour or so because she was panting so hard and whining, she was so uncomfortable. At 3:00 she finally settled down for about half an hour, but then woke up and panted and whined so we went out again. Then at 4:00, she settled down for good and fell asleep. I went to bed and fell asleep shortly after, and woke up a little after 6:00, so that meant I got 3 hours of sleep last night.

When the vet opened at 8:00 I called and asked if I could bring in a urine sample instead of them coming to get the dog, I told them the sample was pink and had a blood clot in it so it was obvious that she needed meds. They said yes, so I took a bus there--I didn't know if I could do the walk there and back with the snowy sidewalks and the cold. It turned out to not be that cold, and for some odd reason most of the businesses on this particular street DID shovel, as opposed to the businesses on the street where I have to grocery shop. So I walked home.
They gave me antibiotics, cranberry tablets, and a container to bring a urine sample back in 2 weeks. Then they tried to get me to take a urinary diet, I said I wanted to wait on that. The vet said that if she keeps getting the infections she recommended an Xray, which they could do, and an ultrasound, which would have to be done at some other hospital, not close by, of course. She was talking like she's had these constantly, so I asked her to look back in the record--I don't remember my sister mentioning UTIs at all. So she looked back and said, oh yes, I see there was just the one a year ago and now. But she still tried to get me to take the urinary diet--I told her if she had another one in the next year I would take it, but not yet.
So I walked home, immediately gave the meds to the dog, and took her out in the yard, where she was still squatting all over and had pink urine. I hope these meds take effect soon, I feel so helpless just watching her be uncomfortable.

Good morning PS! The worst part is not being able to help her immediately. And that brings me to my next thought which I was having as I walked home from the animal hospital. More than one (knowledgable) source has told me that pitbulls are very tough, they don't show pain until it's really bad. That makes it hard, because they don't show the initial, more subtle signs that something is wrong--that means by the time they're in bad pain, it's really bad and it becomes an emergency. She seemed perfectly fine all the way up until last night but when the discomfort struck, she was SO miserable. She's already better than she was for those 3 hours last night.
And through the whole thing I kept thinking THANK GOODNESS it's not Saturday late afternoon, which is when she had this last time. It was comforting to know I could call the vet at 8am.
Oh, and after I called the vet I went online to check the bus schedules, and my internet was working. After I came home and took the dog out and ate breakfast, I came here and it was out. It went in and out very quickly a couple of times, this is the same thing that happened the other day. I always worry that it's my house only, that some cable somewhere is breaking down and pretty soon it will go out altogether. I'm going to see if I can find the way to check for outages without actually calling the Comcast number.
Then I guess I need to try to do something despite being tired--I don't want to take a nap unless and until I absolutely have to.

Oh Diane - what a rough night/morning/day!
Everyone at work (in my office) got a gift certificate to a local restaurant from our director. We all used them to order out lunch today. Well, I didnt as my gift card went missing. But I ordered anyway.
trying hard to stay focused.

Thanks ohblondie, I'm kind of sitting here zombie-like trying to make myself do something constructive. I did look up the online outage site for Comcast, but felt silly doing so since if I was able to be online to get to it, it wouldn't show an outage at that moment! However, I found this for the map of my area:
"We’ve started work in your neighborhood to enhance the Xfinity network. You’ll experience service outages during this time. We anticipate completing our work within the day. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience."
That made me feel better that it's not just me, although it would have been nice to receive an email from them before work started so we wouldn't worry when it happened. It's been out and back in again just since my last post.

I guess our weather this week wasn't so bad, first there are the ice storms in Texas and now I hear New England will get wind chills of 50 below tomorrow? I hope everyone stays safe.
I'm going to go downstairs to check on the dog, she's mostly quiet but every once in a while I hear her panting for a short time. I still haven't opened blinds downstairs, I'll see what else I can do while down there.
