The bookcase is done! I am sore. It had to be done on the floor because it was too tall to put on the table in the living room. This was not as hard as this type of bookcase usually is, all the pieces were the right size. The hardware package was short one screw but I found one the right size in the basement, and there were these little wedge things to put on the back for added strength and they didn't all go on perfectly, but it feels strong enough and I'm happy with it. And OH, what a difference a cordless drill makes. Not having to work near an outlet and have extension cords and accidentally pulling the plug out of the wall and moving the cord around as you work--night and day. If anyone is considering buying a drill, spend the extra money for a cordless one, it is worth it!
The book case fits in the entryway behind the door perfectly, it's basically using wasted space. I didn't attach it to the wall, maybe the handyman can do that--the wall in the entryway is that sort of bubbled plaster (I don't know what it's called) and I'm afraid to try to drill into it. I did put shims under the edges so that it's leaning a tiny bit backwards, plus I put a case of water on the bottom shelf extending onto the floor, so I'm confident that it won't tip over. Especially since I no longer have cats jumping on things.
But now I'm going to eat lunch and hope that this project didn't tire me out for the whole day. I knew I would finish once I started, I just can't seem to leave those projects alone once I start them.
Next will be filling it up, which will require rearranging books on three other bookcases, so that will probably be a project over more than one day--I don't want to rush that.

Yay, got a full weekend off.. still got a grotty hung over feeling but made a point of forcing myself to get the basic chores of laundry and dishes done before going out for fresh air.. ...cleared most of the pruned branches out the back garden (going to make great plant supports this season) ...finished clearing another growing bed at the allotment, and transplanted my mint into a better location Plan for tomorrow➡️cook & wash & change bed linen first...get up to the allotment after... Sunday is the last warm day for a while, so not going to waste the chance to play outside 🌳((thankfully won't be anywhere as near as cold as you've had in in the State's)) Also want to get some sprouted seeds into compost, and check what else I can sprout

Hello oust, scholar and decade!
Decade, it's warm enough to plant things by you? Wow! I just took the dog out, it's 42 degrees here, feels so balmy! We have a whole week of warmer weather coming up.
I spent about half an hour moving books around, and I'm making myself stop for today. I can continue tomorrow, my back and side are hurting. I also have a huge mess to clean up, boxes, styrofoam, tools. Tomorrow.

Not super warm,up to 10c today.. but I can sprout seeds indoors, and hopefully by the time they get too large it will be safe enough to put them into the greenhouse. The mint is in hibernation, so it's just a case of digging up a few roots and popping them in a hole. I was reading that it's becoming a bad winter where you are, Texas appears to have had more snow than here in the Midlands

I cleaned the sink in one bathroom and the toilet. I broke down some boxes and took them to the garage Tomorrow it warms up and i will do a trash run.

Decade, I get it, you're starting plants indoors. It's still too early to do that here, I can't put anything out until mid-May at the earliest, preferable a little later just to be sure there won't be a late freeze--so I can't really start indoor plants until mid-March. I'm in the midwest, and our January temperatures were an average of 9 degrees (F) warmer than usual. We've only had 2 snows that were more than dustings, and both were 3 inches--that's less than usual. We've had two cold snaps, over Christmas was the worse one. But you're right, other areas of the country are having bad winters, ice storms, very cold snaps, and poor Buffalo, New York always ends up with storms bringing many feet of snow! I'm a winter person so I love snow, I can do without the super-cold though, mostly because it makes me worry about the house (pipes freezing, furnace going out, sky-high heating bills, etc.) So the warmer than usual is okay, it would just be nice to have a little more snow. And, I always hope that a warmer than usual winter doesn't mean a warmer than usual summer--that would really be awful!
It appears as though I'm not going to do anything useful today, I just did a little reading but can't seem to make myself do anything else. I will at least try to straighten up my main room here, the desks get messy so quickly.

Just spent another hour and a half in the spare room!
Done: - Batch cooking take 1 completed, portioned, and frozen - Stacked and ran dishwasher - Took a pile of sentimental papers from the spare room and filed them appropriately in the office - Went through the giant plastic crate at the end of the spare room bed - Emptied a set of cardboard drawers, throwing out everything except some old but cherished perfumes. There is one body spray that is currently evading the bin because it smells like my teenage years even though logically it needs to go. Things with memorable smells are so hard for me because you can't capture them in a photo! - All gift bags collected in one box - All gift tags, ribbon, twine, Christmas cards, tape and fancy collected and organised in little cardboard drawers - Sorted my miscellaneous box out so it all fit inside and I could get the lid on - Stacked my uniform ikea boxes neatly at the end of the bed - Filled a bag of trash
Tomorrow: - Continue batch cooking - Empty dishwasher - Work on organising donations - Plan a trip for donations and getting to the recycling centre this week
Starting to see more floor in the spare room is awesome, but is slightly throwing me off! It's so weird that I actually feel excited that I might be able to vacuum this room again!

Good morning cando and PS! Cando, I hope you feel better soon.
I had a good night's sleep last night, I had one hour of wakefulness during the night but I had gone to sleep early so still got 7.5 hours of sleep, the amount that is ideal for me. The dog seems perfectly fine, it's amazing how one day of antibiotics (and cranberry supplement) return her completely to normal behavior, even though 2 weeks of antibiotics are necessary to completely get rid of the bacteria.
Today is a phone call day so I'll try to get things done in the morning. The forecast was for "cloudy" but the sun is shining, so it feels warmer already--the high will be 40.
