Good afternoon Diane!
I am feeling horrible that the cancer is gone and I still can't do anything. My husband has been a single parent for 20 months. My Mom is getting worse and I am not well enough to travel. My sister is overwhelmed handling everything. Telling myself I am healing and doing visualization and meditation is no longer helping. I really need to purchase a scooter so I can get out of this house and I can't afford it because of medical debts. Vent over.
Look for all possible ways to relieve neuropathy and mental fogginess.

What is in those jars, decade?
PS, I don't know how bad your neuropathy is, I'm sure that prevents you from doing a lot of things. But I would imagine the mental fogginess would be the most distressing because if you have pain you can at least still do things that you can do sitting down, and things like reading or learning something. If your brain doesn't let you do those things it has to be awful. I assume you're "not bad enough" to require a scooter paid for by Medicare? Can you rent scooters?
I was just having a discussion with my friend in the independent living facility about motorized wheelchairs. She has severe pain in her knees all the time, she can barely make it to the dining room and back for meals. This means she misses some activities at the building that she would like to attend. She can pay an aide to take her back and forth from her room to an event in a wheelchair, but they charge a fee for that. She had bad experiences with some routine surgeries about 10 years ago, so does not want knee replacements. She can't buy a regular wheelchair because she has so much numbness in her hands that she couldn't push herself around with her hands, and couldn't "walk" herself around with the wheelchair because of the knee pain. She would need a motorized wheelchair, and they are expensive. Although knowing her, I also don't think she's mentally ready for a permanent wheelchair...she's stubborn like I am, so at the moment it doesn't feel like there are any good options for her.
It's so hard to have to deal with limitations, whether from aging or illness. PS, I hope you can find some relief somehow.

peaceseeker sorry for your troubles; I hope you continue to recover. Diane I laughed out loud at the yard "scooping" ! so i am struggling through the work day. I am a slug today, but I think it is the natural ebb of three days of high frenzied activity, always on, and working late. So I am doing what I can, and hoping I get more motivated. I was going to apply for a new job but (surprisingly) I am hemming and hawing because it is 100 percent remote. I don't think it would be good for me to be alone and never leave the house and just have these needy, disruptive animals for company without a break. I love them but they never stop getting in the middle of things or demanding attention. I think I would go crazy and also gain weight as I can eat more. So I am not sure. Before when DD was home I'd like it better, because I did not mind fully remote in the pandemic because I could pick her up and take her places and there was a person around. but now just me and the animal kingdom seems like a ticket to a bad place for my mental health. On office days I find myself thinking I get to see people today. The thing about working from home is that you are working, so not just home with the freedom to plan your day as you please....I might still apply because it is more money and I truly need the money but i am not sure...time is running out for the opening for sure. I did some work, ate lunch, did some work, moving like a snail! trying to decide if I should do puppy walk in light rain in the daylight in the park, or in the dark - the rain free period has now moved to 6=7 ish. I will probably just wait for the rain free period...it is too warm for freezing so there should be no ice spots.

Bree, that's interesting that you don't think working at home would be good for you, it's hard for me to put myself in your position because I worked at a shelter for so many years and that wasn't something I could do at home--but if I had a clerical type position that I could do at home I would opt for that job in a minute. I have heard a lot of people say that they need the people contact and wouldn't want to work at home 100% of the time, so you're not alone in that.
I took the dog out again, the rain stopped again, if we get any more precip tonight it will be snow. I forgot to check the basement a second time, I'll do that this evening.

Ummm well that's a good question Di,(it's sort of lost in the mists of time😁) I think they were beans&apple&courgette... TBH they don't look too appetising, and may get relegated to the compost pile. Anyway, ended the day with most of the washing up cleared apart from a couple of pans from tonight's cooking

Decade, so, when you can something, it changes the appearance so much you can't tell what it is? I know nothing about canning, I remember being very young and my mom would do canning with a very scary pressure cooker so I wasn't interested in seeing how she did it. And I don't remember ever eating whatever it was that she was preparing, or at least, if I ate it I didn't know that it was something from that process.
When I got too many zucchini from my plant last summer (the only human edible thing I planted) I just chopped them up and put them in the freezer).

peaceseeker Sorry you're still in pain, etc. Have you tried Next Door (as far as medical equipment). We bought things we needed for feeding tube -- IV hanging pole, etc. Brand new, never used because it was purchased for someone's husband who was coming home from hospital, but ended up he died... So his poor wife wanted to get it to someone who could use it & sold it very inexpensively. Also, we bought a used, nice type wheelchair that was in great condition very inexpensively. etc. You'd be surprised how people will help out, too. We bought a refrigerator very inexpensively (used) through Next Door & the guy we bought it from looked very wealthy judging by his home, vehicles & other items in his home. He was just super nice! actually delivered it in pouring down rain & did that for free! People are so happy to help as they are pleased their things are going to someone who can use them & really need them... especially when it is an urgent situation, etc. Also, a 2nd used wheelchair, too. Some things are more expensive than like Good Will store, but they have been well taken cared of, etc. My DH has done these purchases on Next Door, and in our area there is a special category for elderly, etc. that need caregiving, special medical situations, etc. Resources, etc. Wishing you the best! bree I can understand completely about working at home. I thought that I wouldn't like it at all for the same reasons as you. But, have found that I love it. Love having my Dog with me. The building that my office moved to a couple years ago is so different than the higher rise that we used to be in. The new building is much more boring... and I really don't see anyone hardly and don't know anyone there. It is just as lonely as being at home during the day, except that I don't have my dog. I do have a boss and when he's there... my workdday is much more difficult. I also have a nice co-worker, but when he's NOT there -- like on vacatioin for a couple weeks -- it is the most boring place to be!!! Also, he is gone one day a week, and I really don't like those days. So, I'd rather be home & would hope that I would get a membership to a fitness place and join in some other things like a book club or something.... But, it can also be a struggle to push oneself to do these things, too. So, I understand your dilemma. Given the choice though... now that we've been thru Covid -- and not being able to go out to lunch, etc. ... I would much prefer to work at home. That would be my choice at this time. ohblondie Hugs to you! you have a lot on your plate right now. So sweet to help your Mom in the shower, etc. mylittlescholar Glad you got a break from your houseguests. cd

Feb 9, Thurs I was too tired to do anything other than go to work, today. DH drained the waterbed. Yay! DH carried a bunch of packed boxes & put them in the Capsule. He also bought different color labels, organizing stuff, etc.
Got gas during my lunch break & removed some trash from my car. On the way home, dropped off 2 bags of giveaways at Good Will. Emptied kitchen trash & replaced bag
Wish I could have gotten more done tonight. Slept until just a couple hours ago. Going back to sleep, now. CD
