So here I am, on the last day of the challenge. I just read back, and I'm so happy that you guys kept working and wow, accomplished so much! Any project that involves a cement grinder (I had to look up exactly what they are used for) sounds major!
A few things derailed me during this challenge--one is that I underestimated the time it would take me to work on seedlings. I'm very ambitious this year, I want to fill the whole yard up with annuals wherever there is empty space, so I started a lot of seeds. I start them in peat pellets and if they germinate, move them to larger pots a couple of times before they're ready to go outside, so I'm spending a lot of time watering, repotting, moving things around trying to find more light for the larger pots, etc.
Then, I finally got the handyman here, it was a whole year ago that he was last working here. He spent 3 days here one week and 2 days the next, and that always exhausts me, because I don't go away and let him work, I stay outside or wherever he is to see how he does things, and since I'm outside anyway I get a lot of yard work done.
Both of these items were on my challenge list, so they just took up all the time so I couldn't get to the other things.
But I also had a lot of trouble with a painful back and hips, which I've had for a while but are steadily getting worse. I had a particularly bad few days with hip pain which happened to occur right before a regular 3-month doctor visit so I mentioned it, and he sent me for Xrays of my back, hips and abdomen--since I still have weird abdominal discomfort. The abdominal one didn't show anything special, but the hip and back ones showed various problems, like narrowed vertebrae, "listhesis" which is apparently a part of a vertebrae out of place, varying degrees of arthritis everywhere, and a few other things including extra bone growth along the hip sockets which pinch the soft tissue around the joint.
I'm not sure if knowing all the details makes me feel better or worse--knowing there are concrete reasons for all my various aches and pains confirms that they are real, but it also makes me feel like I'm on my way to not being able to do things (well, more on the way, I already am!) which is depressing. So I think that kind of slowed me down for a while. But now I'm thinking, I need to just keep doing what I can and not think about anything else because after all, what else can I do?
The doctor wants to refer me to an orthopedist at least for PT, but ortho docs are so pro-surgery that I'm avoiding that. My next door neighbor is a PT and he said he will look at my Xray results and get me some written exercises that they recommend, so I might start there.
Anyway, tomorrow will start a new challenge and I will try to be more realistic about what I can accomplish. Although, I don't mind having lots of goals and not finishing all of them, that's okay. But I didn't mean to abandon posting altogether.

Top of the morning (if it was morning right?) It is 76 degrees and sunny here in Pensacola. I did try to clean my front porch Saturday, but only scratched the surface. I am working on it again today. I'm liking the idea that I'm getting vitamin D in this process and also that I might be burning calories too. YES! The front door mat no longer worked for it's intended purpose of being a place to clean shoes off. I think our shoes just got dirtier with use. So I removed it ..did a lot of sweeping..hosed off the mat and it is now drying. There is a lot of things on this porch.

Def, my front porch has a lot of stuff that doesn't belong there too--bags of wild bird seed, a bag of potting soil, the box of diapers that was sent to me in error that I still haven't gotten rid of, my new plants that are waiting to be planted...my old plants that are waiting to be planted (sedums that I bought last fall and never got into the ground, so they spent the winter on the enclosed porch) and a few other things--maybe some day there will only be permanent things out there!
So, I realized that May/June should be called early summer rather than late spring...so the last challenge should have just been spring? Would you guys rather have a monthly challenge? Or do you like 2 months?

Hi Everyone. I am so pleased with these 2 months worth of progress. I did get almost my whole bedroom straightened and it was a lot of organizing and decluttering work. I did have the furnace men out to service the furnace. The yard men came and mowed the lawn, including doing right over the old leaves, and they trimmed the lawns. I hemmed some pants. I also organized and cleaned my computer desk, top and bottom. This was a carryover.
I did not do much on the kitchen cabinets, although it was not an urgent matter. I did not yet have Richard over to start into handyman issues.
I did, however, begin a very recently added challenge ---that of working to clean and organize and declutter my finished attic. It needs doing before the heat gets too bad. The heat that is coming was the big reason for starting it sooner than the next challenge time, although the rest of it will have to carry over.
I am pleased.
Diane, either one month or two---doesn't matter to me.

Thank you everyone, how about if we try a monthly challenge for the next two months, and see if that brings in more people because it's less intimidating!? Plus I won't have to worry about whether it's a late spring challenge or an early summer challenge!
I will make a thread now for May, hope to see you all there!
