We're starting the last month of summer, last chance to work on summer goals!
The challenge is to get some projects done by August 31st--that's one full month!
Think about the biggest obstacles your home presents in living the way you want--and do something that you'll be happy about when the month is over.
The rules are up to you--psychologists say goals are more achievable if they're measurable and specific. BUT--if specific goals scare you, make them open-ended--anything that will help you get something done.
And remember, our goals can be guideposts--we don't have to finish everything perfectly, we just need to try our best!
Then post and let everyone know how it's going.

I added some small goals, now that seedling season is almost over I have more time but I'm trying not to go overboard!
I'm continuing the baseline goal, adding another 30 minutes to basement sorting and old paper, 4 more repottings, and 30 minutes each for new goals of working on my filing cabinet and my password organization. Also, I want to clean out any 4 cabinets or drawers, and read one non-series book from my To Be Read pile.
1--Bring every room/work area in house back to baseline once per day 2--Basement sorting -- goal of 30 minutes 3--Old paper -- goal of 30 minutes 4--Book data entry -- goal of 30 minutes left over from last challenge 5--Repotting houseplants -- goal of 4 6--Organizing older files -- goal of 30 minutes 7--Password project -- goal of 30 minutes 8--Clean out any 4 cabinets or drawers
9--Read 1 book from my TBR pile

I would like to join in again also. Last month, I didn't pile on too many goals and I did better than when I put too much on my plate. Funny thing is ---I also did a few other projects that were not on my goal list. I wonder if I was doing those to avoid doing the stated goals ? (Even though I eventually did do those.) Maybe not, but I wonder.
I need to get 2 Dr. appts. out of the way in August. I think I will try to do some hardcore PUPA in the den, starting sort of small----15 minutes at a time for 4 times.
Repot my mint plant.
Do more weeding outside---1/2 hour times 4.
Read up on the Roomba with an eye to getting started with it.
That is all.

Catcats, you have a ROOMBA? I keep thinking about the videos of cats riding on them!
I wonder if I was doing those to avoid doing the stated goals ?
Well, if so, at least making goals was productive in another way!

Here for 2 weeks and then traveling so I guess that will be part of my challenge 1) Hand over mom's stuff to the accountant is took me over a month to find Give a heads up to our accountant that she will see our stuff sometime in September. 2) Get the "easy" filing done at the office. Do as much as I can for a few weeks ahead. 3) Still working on our trust - this week going to reach out to the final few things we need to change over. 4) Get a few things reviewed in our home office to make sure I've pulled everything necessary for the trip. We are converting DH's desk to a temporary charging/equipment hub because we have a wire eating kitten! 5) Keep eating at home for the next few weeks - probably 2 meals out. And, then non-stop restaurant and eating at friends/relatives' houses for 3-4 weeks! 6) Finish the trip prep - clothes, packing, buying gifts, all the incidentals 7) Clean out a few more things in DM's old room - move the last of it to the closet or to be stored in our room. No more time to do things like hang pictures, etc. It will now be "trip central". 8) Finish kitten proofing a few more areas. He will be out F/T within the next few days. 9) Go on trip - be safe - have fun. PC

PC, I'm sure getting ready for a long trip will keep you very busy for the next two weeks. Thanks for your reply about the accountant, I was just wondering if accountants are all more busy now for some reason, usually that happens the couple of months before the April tax deadline. I know a lot of businesses are still short staffed from Covid but I would think that accountants work was steady throughout and since many of them work at home their work wouldn't be as affected as other professions.

My goals are a bit difficult for me to make very specific, but I'm going to do my best.
Declutter every main floor room, the upstairs hallway, and our bedroom Clean (vacuum, dust, mop, etc) all the above spaces Help the kids get their rooms decluttered - 11 wants to work a little every day. 14 is sick, so I'll wait until they feel better to figure that out. Set up kids' homework spaces - 11's is going to be the more involved one; they'll need to help me. Get ready for rummage sale - find a portable clothing rack and get a couple tables. Figure out prices. Clean up toys if kids don't get it done themselves (hopefully they do, so they can keep the money) Call the vet re: Benny's procedure, financing Get completely caught up on laundry Plan 11's birthday outing Cook down the pantry/deep freezer
Ongoing daily goals Put away a load of laundry Wash a load of laundry Unload/reload dishwasher Tidy desk Tidy and clean kitchen counter One task in each room aside from above

Hello PJ, nice to see you here! You're having a rummage sale! Good luck with it, I hope it's successful and not too much work to put together--the thought of having a rummage sale and dealing with the people is not something I could manage.
I did okay this last week, I haven't been able to get totally back to baseline on even one day but I keep getting close. It kind of feels different this time, instead of just giving up when I can't get it I just work on it the next day, so that's going in the right direction. I did 10 minutes in the basement, 30 minutes on old paper, and 20 minutes on my password project. I cleaned out a messy kitchen cabinet, and the pencil drawer from my TV desk--and then kept going with the three small drawers in this desk. I'm not counting those three though, because they were mostly still organized from the last time I worked on them, yay! Just needed a little straightening. I repotted one plant, a Fenestraria, a succulent with the common name of "baby toes"! This one was sent to me by mistake the last time I ordered plants, and at first I was not happy because I had one of these before a long time ago and it lived for about 3 weeks and then shriveled up to nothing. But I looked up its care again and so far so good, we'll see what happens in the future. I'm almost half way through my chosen book, it's good so far.
1--Bring every room/work area in house back to baseline once per day -- not yet this month, but this goal keeps it front and center in my mind so I am close each day
2--Basement sorting -- 10 minutes done of a goal of 30 minutes 3--Old paper -- goal of 30 minutes done but I will continue
4--Book data entry -- goal of 30 minutes left over from last challenge 5--Repotting houseplants -- goal of 4 -- 2 of 4 done
6--Organizing older files -- goal of 30 minutes 7--Password project -- 20 minutes done of a goal of 30 minutes 8--Clean out any 4 cabinets or drawers -- 2 done, kitchen cabinet and TV desk pencil drawer
9--Read 1 book from my TBR pile -- about half done

"the disastrous den"
So, I little bit less disastrous!
I'm posting late about last week. I did 20 minutes in the basement, 20 minutes on old filing, and I repotted a plant, a little "burro's tail" plant. I avoid repotting them because they are fragile and the little leaves fall off even when you touch them gently. But it's in a new pot now.
I have still not gotten back to baseline. I've gotten really close, but I'm still trying to get there.
1--Bring every room/work area in house back to baseline once per day -- not yet
2--Basement sorting -- 30 minutes done of a goal of 30 minutes -- THIS IS DONE! I'm not doing more this month since the next project down there will be fine-sorting of hardware, not as important now.
3--Old paper -- goal of 30 minutes done but I will continue
4--Book data entry -- goal of 30 minutes left over from last challenge 5--Repotting houseplants -- goal of 4 -- 3 of 4 done
6--Organizing older files -- 20 minutes done of a goal of 30 minutes
7--Password project -- 20 minutes done of a goal of 30 minutes 8--Clean out any 4 cabinets or drawers -- 2 done, kitchen cabinet and TV desk pencil drawer
9--Read 1 book from my TBR pile -- THIS IS DONE! This book was good, I would read something else from this author (my measure of whether a book is good or not)

I've started pulling things out of the closet. I think I'm going to have to speak with him about some of his stuff.
His stuff: ironing stuff, old vacuum cleaner and bags (can't remember if it works well) and a WHOLE LOT of bedding things for overnight guests. Oh, my goodness. When is this ever needed? It takes up a large percentage of the available space. If I can do a better job of using the shelf space for the bedding, maybe I can have the floor space to myself.
My categories: picnic coolers, hiking, sports, bath towels, cleaning, extension cords, a few bathroom and kitchen spares (trash bags, clothes to be hand washed), hangers on rod.
