Trying to go through my clothes again and i have 3 pairs of Karki pants. I want them all they all fit. I am just re doing the same steps trying for a different outcome. I would have 5 pairs of pants and a few skirts. Only 7 days in a week. Decisions.... I would like to get everything i own into 2 suitcases clothes i mean.
I found 2 almost empty olay shower gels so am putting them both in one container, baby steps
Its going to be very warm today so i will probably stay home most of the day.

Haha, yes Diane i know. But my tastes are changing a little i am 10 + years older than when i last bought most of my clothes. As i don't plan on becoming a nudist i will keep some things, But i mainly wear the same day in day out. We have a working washer and dryer that i use every 3 or 4 days so my thinking is do i need to hang onto things i never wear? All the other things i already donated i barely remember.
What do you think? Am i being to radical?
Also i am following Conie Riet on youtube. I really like her and she is influential in my decision making recently.

No, I am the same way with clothes, I wear scrub shirts and jeans all the time and only have a few of each. I realize I'm WAY away from the average person, but clothing was never important to me, I just want comfortable and functional. I also don't attend any kind of functions that require more formal dress, so you have to take that into account too.
I just mean that you do have to have enough clothes so that you're not doing laundry all the time. Even if you have a washer and dryer you don't want to be washing just 2 things at a time, and you never know, in a future apartment you might not have a washer and dryer. Or, if you're sick or especially busy and can't wash clothes for a few days, it's good to have enough clothes to cover it. Other than that, I think small wardrobes are great--if you're not wearing something then yes, why keep it?. There are so many other things I would rather spend my money on than clothes.
Of course, everyone is different and if clothes are your entertainment, then go for it! But I think posts on this forum support the idea that lots of clothing can be a burden, if it clogs up your house and you have a hard time letting things go.
I have been alternating between doing a few things in the reading room with sitting down in the air conditioned room. I've lost track of time spent in the reading room so for the challenge I will not keep track of time--some of it is just contemplation anyway, not actual fruitful activity. Next I have to go downstairs to see if the dog wants to go out.

oust and desposito I agree with you on the clothes. As we age we may not need as many as when we were younger with jobs and varied social obligations. But good to have enough as Diane said so that what we have could last a decent period of time without washing if necessary. I have a basic uniform too. My excess is very, very slowly being whittled down. The best thing was to stop buying.
I have been exceptionally grumpy today. I washed the laundry room floor, put the charcoal bags back out in the sun (DD1 brings them in at sunset), worked a bit in the kitchen. One more sunny day for the charcoal bags and they will be good to put around to soak in odors for another month or two. They do make a difference.
I got a bag together of unopened party supplies. They happened to be orange, black and white (Orioles baseball colors for when we watched games here) so that will be perfect for someone who wants a Halloween theme coming up. I have a pair of heavy bean bag mitts than go in the microwave and then you put your hands in them. I have very cold hands and arthritis but I haven't used them in over a year. They went in the donate pile then came back out. Two brand new Life Is Good Tervis tumblers went in the donate box then got taken out. I am just in such a p*ssy mood I cannot decide about much of anything.
It isn't helping that I can only stand for maybe 5 minutes without having to sit again. The kitchen work has mostly been done from a short stool on the floor, looking in cabinets, seeing what can fit what can go. There is a lot of cookware I don't use anymore but it needs to be washed before donation. Washing means standing.
A very bright spot in this already beautiful day outdoors that I need to appreciate more ~ last year we had pink and white vincas planted around the pool. They do much better in this area than impatiens but look very similar. I didn't plant any this year. Although they are annuals sometimes they will self-seed. There is one perfect pink plant that has recently blossomed and it looks as happy as can be all by itself saying look at me, I made it!

I went downstairs and asked the dog if she wanted to go out, she stood up wagging her tail so I helped her off the bed (she can get down by herself, but she seems to prefer me to help her--just like she prefers me to feed her a few pieces of food at a time instead of just eating it from the bowl...) and she went towards the door. I opened the door and she turned around and went in the other direction.
I figured since I'm down here I will do 10 minutes on the back porch, although it's really too hot for that. But the grass pads from the potty patch have been sitting out there for a long time and I'm sick of seeing them, so I did 10 minutes and brought them down to the basement and rearranged a few things. When I came back in she was standing at the door waiting to go out. So we went out, it is hot, yuck. While out I heard a bird that I don't normally hear, so walked over to the tree it was in but only got a glimpse, similar to a sparrow, maybe slimmer, maybe looked a little like a wren, which I don't normally see here. The most distinctive was the sound, continuous cheeping. Maybe I'll look up how wrens sound--I thought they had a song but birds have a different call when they're excited so maybe something was going on.
Now I need to PEEP up here so that I can have a moment where everything is decluttered. As long as I have one of those per day I'm counting it done.

Danny, on days when I can't let things go I give up and come back another day. I find that my resolve is a lot different from day to day.
It also helps to purge right after having some consequence from hoarding, like tripping over something, or realizing that I wasted a lot of money on something. That gives me momentum!
Okay, things look pretty good up here, I think they're okay downstairs too but I'll check next time I go down.
Last night the dog started panting the minute we got into bed and continued for one and a half hours. I finally jumped out of bed and said, okay, let's go out to the yard, I think you have to go potty. And I think I said it loud, because honestly, she looked surprised and then stopped panting! Now, I know I've done this before and it hasn't helped, so it's a coincidence, but it looked just like she said "okay, I'll stop panting, I don't want to go out again."
I was so nervous after listening to her pant for 90 minutes that I couldn't fall asleep until around midnight, and I did hear some fireworks before I fell asleep, thankfully they weren't close by and the dog didn't wake up. I'm sure there will be more tonight, and the stupid village is having fireworks Monday evening in a park several blocks away, I can usually hear them here when they do that but at least they last for only about 30 minutes and then stop. I suppose it's possible there were fireworks I didn't hear last night and that was why she had such a bad stretch. I did sleep well from midnight to six once we both calmed down.
I need more veggies made for dinner so I'll do that now.

I've got very much more into a uniform style the last year or so (since I've been doing my daily tasks and posting here for accountability, as well as listening to a lot of online decluttering videos). I think I'm happier for it, and definitely buying less clothes.
Done: Load of laundry Collected new cube storage unit, cube inserts, and paint tester pots Handled mail Wiped down kitchen worktops Assembled new storage unit Organised Christmas decorations into cubes Put away three further boxes of stuff into cube unit Put gifts into another cube - keeps them all in one place so I don't panic later Filled a bag of trash Reorganised things boyfriend had moved out of the bathroom so they were neatly away in shelving rather than lying around to tip over Organised empty boxes on top of the new unit so they are out of the way - mum may take some of the underbed boxes Managed to not buy some new t-shirts I was wanting - they were out of stock in the specific model I wanted so I didn't go for a slightly poorer fit. Hopefully I can resist until I have done some clearing out of my wardrobe
To do: Laundry from machine to dryer Set out clothes for tomorrow Achieve dining table zero Achieve coffee table zero

bree and MLS---Thanks for info about tuna juice ! Sooner or later, I will probably need to try this. I did the dailies this morning and then went to Mass. After lunch I took a nap. Later , did the hummer feeders and cleaned the cat pans. Talked to BFF in CT for a while. See you in the week day thread, or maybe this one will cover Labor Day. catcats

Awakened to find that I was in a lot of pain in or near the sciatic nerve place where I had so much trouble before. It had been good for so long. I got off to a slow start, but finally I made the bed and took a shower and washed my hair. Took Tylenol. Worked on big kitchen project which was not comfortable but needed to be done. It involved unloading the DW and I had to do it so the new dirty dishes had a place to reside. Sat with ice bag which helped. Then I went down to get the dryer load out and cleaned the cat pans. Too sore to fold the clothes now, but will push for it later. lennon, thanks for starting this thread again. Hope everyone has a good weekend. catcats
