Hi Everyone ! @twinkletoes---I am amazed at what you are getting done today !!You are crushing it ! Danny15---I read your post about my front porch post and it occurred to me that sometimes I should be doing this---sitting and enjoying---more often. It always seems so important to me to get things done, and it IS important, but at what price ? Why should I have a front porch and not use it ? Why have a hummer feeder and maintain it and not sit and watch these precious tiny birds ? They don't mind a bit that I am sitting there, a few scant feet away from them. I shall make myself take time while there is still time. I am slow today. I just now made my bed and it is after lunch. I did the daily stuff and took the trash outside, but I'm not accomplishing much else. Maybe I will do more later. ohblondie--You made a good point about seeing neighbors while on the front porch. There are so many dog walkers going up and down that sidewalk. I wave to many and they wave back. One man, in particular, stops by and lets his Golden come up and visit. The dog's name is Duncan and I just love him; he reminds me of our long-ago Goldens, Janet and Jessie. Diane, I gather that you use both kitchens ? Is one more useful than the other ? Is there a "primary" kitchen ? Wishing everyone a good day !! catcats

Hello reve!
Catcats, neither kitchen is actually a full kitchen. The upstairs kitchen was supposed to be when I would be living upstairs and my sister was downstairs, so upstairs only has room for a kitchen sink, a stand for my microwave and toaster oven, and a cabinet with 4 shelves for kitchen items. I have a fridge and a toaster upstairs too but they are not in this narrow hallway area that serves as the "kitchen." Downstairs the gas stove was ancient and hadn't been used in many years, so I had the handyman take it out. I would rarely use a stove if I had one, and I certainly didn't feel safe using the one that was there. The downstairs isn't used as a kitchen at all, even though it has a kitchen sink and a few kitchen-type wall cabinets. There is also the small fridge that was my sister's which I keep on, even though I used to think it so silly for people to have 2 fridges--and here I am, one person, with an extra, though small, fridge. It allows me to keep a few extra things since I don't have a car and easy access to the stores. That room also has a small worktable and a tall wooden cabinet that I brought from my condo, the cabinet holds hardware and miscellaneous household items, and the worktable is usually used for plant work or miscellaneous stuff. There is also a metal shelving unit that has all the various dog and outside animal supplies on it, plus some plants on the top shelf.
Once in a while I miss an oven because I used to love baking, but honestly, if I had an oven I would first of all need another big storage area for baking supplies, and secondly, I would be eating all of the baked goods which would not be a good thing. So I'm happy without a stove. It would be nice to have a large kitchen table somewhere, but the one "kitchen" type table in the house is next to the dining room windows (south exposure!) so it is full of plants. I have a few small tables around the house for when I need a working surface but they are not the same as having a large table to work on.
One of my dog walking clients had a dream kitchen--it was huge, with a large island in the middle that had tons of work surface plus a little prep sink, besides all the usual kitchen appliances. If I had that kitchen I would definitely be baking all the time! Although I can easily picture myself using the prep sink and half of the work surface as a repotting space.

I'm going to take the dog out and eat lunch. I went out on the back porch before to put bird seed out and it was actually drizzling--they said nothing about rain today but I was happy to see it.

I just went for a walk outside and it is sprinkling on one side of the building and dry on the other!! Rain is predicted for tonight and I am not sure what will happen to my evening plans which include an ethnic festival with lots of good food!
A dear friend brought my mom over to visit my dad this afternoon. This frees up my night and made it easier on my mom to be able to visit during the day.
OK - time to wrap it up

Eating dinner--I had to close my back door because it was getting too chilly in here...
The next 3 days will be warmer, but wow, this sure felt good.
