Diane the flood mostly made a mess, no damage, things are stored in those storage vinyl bins. But my vacuum was in the line of fire! I had hoped to use today, I called Dyson and they said wait 24 hours. I don't think the motor was wet, but not sure. I hope it works, no dollars really for a new dyson. I asked the plumber about two jobs that I'd like him to come back for as non rushes -- it will be close to 900! those might need to wait, I might try to find a handyman to do one of them as it was something that my brother fixed before for free (he is now out of town)
I am so discombobulated! so much to do and not certain what to do. So I am in a crazy disorganized fashion just doing stuff in random order. I figure it will be getting done just haphazardly.
I did find some old towels to mop up some of the litter flood mess. started a load of laundery took out two bags of recycling from my shredder did the dishes put out a new dish mat threw away a rug - it was curled at the sides and a tripping hazard. I thought I better keep that because it is ok other than the tripping hazard and then I thought NO TOSS! So that is good.
the tree does make me sad but I think of my mom, she was super practical and organized, I grew up in neat and orderly and clean home (I take after my dad!) and she did not keep lots of stuff, just a few things.
next continue to tackle the paper mess on my dining room table! I think it has hermaphrodite reproducing capabilitie! I have purged three bags and a box and I still have a stack here! So tired of paper! I have been pretty ruthless the last few years with putting mail right in the recycle bin and shredding bills as I pay them but the back log of years of over filing is enormous lift.
I am feeling such a mix of emotions! my brain is spinning.
I think I will do this pay an overdue bill focus on dining room paper clean bathroom as someone is stopping by later

no damage
Oh good, that's a lesson for me, I have a lot of books in cardboard boxes in my basement, although I try to have the boxes on top of bins. I one corner they're on a wooden pallet--which would not protect boxes if there's more than a couple of inches of water.
I stopped for lunch, I would like to go outside but I think everything is too wet and muddy now for me to do any work in the yard. The rain has stopped for now although this morning they said it would be on and off all day. Maybe I'll concentrate on inside this afternoon.

I did go out for 20 minutes just to see if I could find a place to transplant the fennel. There is no place in the back that is not rocky, or covered with grass. I dragged a storage bin with soil in it over to a new spot and checked it for drainage holes--the were there but were too small, so I will bring my drill out tomorrow and make bigger ones, and put the fennel in there. I have no idea how it will grow in a bin, but I don't have any other options at the moment.
Then my shopping friend called, again.
Now I'm at this weird time of day where it's a couple of hours until dinner, but I'm tired, so I want to rest but feel like I should do more work since I'll have to stop for dinner soon.
If nothing else I'll at least work on deleting emails

Well other than a quick 5 min break tossing tennis balls with Cali, I managed to stay inside and fosused.
I left early to go to an eye dr appointment, no major changes to my prescriptions. He did mention the big C word, cataract. But no mention of having to deal with it yet.
I have a meeting tonight - hopefully a quick one.
I did not make my bed this am and every time Cali crawled up to curl up - she tracked dirt in. So I need o brush it out and straighten the covers.
Tonight it take out the trash night. I might do that now - and give myself some time out doors!

Hi scholar!
I did go out with my drill and make some drainage holes in the storage bin, tomorrow I will dig up the fennel and replant and hope it survives. I can't have it where it is, not just the wasps being too close to the house, but last year I had tall messy plants in with the medium height plants, this year I want only black eyed susans on the two ends, lots of zinnias in the middle, and maybe some gomphrena along the side edges since they're shorter. I'm trying to have at least one non-messy plot out there.
I decluttered upstairs and down, now I'm going to eat dinner and be done for the day.

Oh Bree - I am so sorry about the flooding in your basement. I hope the dyson emerges unscathed! I do have a fear of my basement flooding - but if it did - it would force me to chuck everything down there.
I woke up to a rainy dreary day. I dug out my raincoat as I wanted a hood. For some reason I woke up at 330am. I must have dozed for a minute here or there but not much. So needless to say I am highly distracted today. I am making my list of To Do's right now to help me stay on track
I managed to run the dishwasher last night. I did my Thursday night fridge purge and tossed a few dishes in the dishwasher so I decided to run it. I wiped out one of the pantry shelves and got the items back on it. I still need to get the mixing bowls put back.
Tonight I will unload it. And I will run a load of laundry. I have been avoiding running a load of lights as several items need to be pre-treated. I think I will "suck it up buttercup" and get them treated and washed. Yesterday I had to iron one of my shirts and I tried using starch on it. I might have giggled while I did it. I also need to register for my college reunion in June. So excited -- it is an All Greek reunion as well. And my phone just reminded me that I need to give Cali her flea medication
OK - I had better get back at it
This weekend will be the usual mix of visits and other duties. I do plan on corned beef in the crockpot sunday

Good idea ohblondie, a little at a time and it's not as tedious to deal with.
Before lunch I went outside and did 20 minutes of cutting things down.
Now that I've eaten I'm going back out to see if I can transplant the fennel plants.
