Good morning! Thanks for starting the thread, lennon!
Reve, I read your post in the last thread about your mom commenting about your baseboards. Was she impressed when she saw that you had cleaned them?
I went out into the yard this morning, but didn't quite make an hour--I had to come in because I was so uncomfortable. It was warm and muggy already. Today's high will be 96, and there will be thunderstorms but not until overnight. This time it does look like they'll cover our entire area although we're in the part that will get the least rain.
I'm already feeling defeated today because of the weather, so I'm not anticipating getting much done.

I'm trying hard not to be a slug but I don't have a lot of motivation today. I'm making myself do a few things.
DONE:
Called decluttering client Cleaned up mess from unpacking and putting together table Collected some other garbage to take out later Collected spoiled fruit from fridge, cut up and put into composting container in fridge to take out later Washed out a fruit bin Filled up the little bird bath and put it in the cage, not confident that they will use it
Other than that, I've been reading.

It occurred to me that I totally forgot to clean/refill the bird baths and water bowls this morning, so I went out to do that. I wish I could tolerate being out there in this heat longer, there's definitely more activity. In the short time I was out there I saw a couple of bees, a black swallowtail, and watched a robin pulling dry grass out with his or her beak and flying away with a whole beak full.

I've been working on the fridge, there wasn't a lot left to do but I'm finding the last things to get rid of, and my new fridge bins have arrived. I've always used bins but they are various sizes and don't go all the way back and I still forget about things that are behind them. I now have narrow bins that go all the way back. I have unpacked them and washed them, and when they're dry I will transfer things. After that, my fridge project will finally be done...for now.

Looks like everyone took today off!
My shopping friend called, so we talked for a very long time. Then I decided to make a list of the movies on my DVR, there are so many that I want to save but evil Comcast removes them after a year even if you have lots of recording space left. So I always try to re-record my favorite movies when they're on so I have them for a longer time. It helps if I have a list by date of what's on there.
I had dinner, and I did put my new bins in the fridge--still to do is make labels for the bins, and to make a list of what I have for the fridge door so I remember to eat everything. I have to do better at not wasting food.
It does look like we'll get at least some rain overnight, possibly in the form of a bad storm with hail, although I'm guessing that part will pass us by as it usually does. This means I have to go out to the yard to close the yard waste bin, and I have to clean the seed pool before I go downstairs tonight.
Today was challenge reporting day but I'll do that tomorrow.
Good night everyone, see you in the morning!

Not quite a day off, but we were out and about today driving to three different malls for annoying purchases I had to make in person!
I bought some new bins recently - the clear acrylic sort that are often used in fridges - and I used chalkboard markers just to write labels on the end. Saved trying to figure out what size of labels and having to buy lots just for a few bins. Still colour coordinated them of course!
Re. The baseboards Diane, she did make a mildly approving look. The sort of "poker face, give nothing away but a slight nod, and that's all the acknowledgement you'll get" look. By her standards, that and the fact there wasn't much further criticism speaks volumes! 😀

Good morning everyone!
That's funny about your mom, reve. I think there are moms who praise their kids so much that it doesn't mean anything, and then there are moms who don't want to praise at all because they think the child will be satisfied and stop trying. Too bad they can't all be in the middle. And good that you can read her expression and know she approved!
So, the rain last night was supposed to be some time between 9 and 1am. I was just falling asleep at about 9:30 and I heard a quiet rumble of thunder, and a drizzle starting. The drizzle ended about 60 seconds later, and then nothing--so I thought--par for the course, we will get nothing out of this storm.
I woke up this morning and looked outside at the neighbor's front yard, the sidewalks were dry. So I'm thinking this morning's garden hour will be all watering--but I went outside in the back and immediately saw there was over an inch of rain in the rain buckets! I was so happy! Obviously it rained later when I was sleeping, and it wasn't a violent storm because that would have woke me up. Just a good, steady rain--such a relief! Both rain barrels are filled back up.
There are plants that have fallen over, that always happens with a hard rain, but this year I have the auger bit to drill holes for stakes, so I can deal with them--that's the job for later today. The most recent forecast says the highs today and tomorrow will be around 85--still hot, but better than 95.
Time for breakfast.

Morning Diane! Yes, she has been, by her standards, very supportive of my desqualoring journey. Last summer she offered to come out and help once a week, which was good from a body doubling point of view and really helped me shift a lot of old clothes. We were talking while she was over and she admitted to her own hoarder tendencies, she just is very different to me in how it manifests. If you know the Clutterbug styles, I'm a butterfly and she is a quintessential ladybird. So she'll focus on visible dust in a place that is better organised while her own cupboards are full to bursting, but at least she is starting to admit I have some good methods. I'll never forget how she went from rolling her eyes at my *** for getting a robot vacuum for my living room and kitchen, to getting one herself!

Heading upstairs now to get started on that bookcase!

hi lennon, reve and Diane reve I read your earlier post about baseboards and it inspired me to dust the baseboards in the living room, then I feather dusted the crown molding in the entire downstairs! Friday I also did some vac'ing in the living room, lots of puppy hair. vac'd floor and most of the upholstery. yesterday seems like a blur! I had a manicure/lunch group with some people which pretty much took up a good chunk of time -- getting ready, getting the manicure, then the lunch so I was gone from about 10:30-2:30 ish. I don't remember what I did but I did have a later afternoon playdate with a friend and her puppy. they have a nice big yard and it was perfect. It was really too hot for a walk, and with my knee, it was great to sit and watch puppy getting plenty of playtime with another dog. bliss for her! on the way home I stopped at the fountain so she could have a quick dip I went out after that and bought some of those slide in sketcher shoes. I have moved into the slide in demographic! they were having a sale so I bought a black pair and a beige pair which will be best for work. I'd like to buy a more fun color too at some point. then I had a food meltdown. emotional eating. I have a relative who can be so extremely trying in every way!!!this person did and said some stuff and I was just so fed up that I ate and drank junky stuff. sigh. I was doing so well! and today I have a dinner that I would have preferred to use from my binge rather than chips and cookies...oh well. At the lunch out yesterday, people were getting fat stuff like extremely indulgent pancake stacks with all kinds of toppings or burgers and fries and I ordered a salad because I want to increase my veggies. then I ate all that junk food later! so far today I scooped litters and backyard, started a load of laundry, took out trash, fed animals, cleaned up cat food site, put dishes away and I am soaking some cat and dog dishes. I will watch church online today most likely. I have a dinner event later, but I hope after church I attack the mess of papers on my dining room table.

Good morning reve and bree!
Reve, that's funny about your mom getting a robot vacuum!
I was just reading about robot lawn mowers--oh, how I wish I could use one of those! But first of all, they are WAY too expensive, but mainly--they wouldn't work in my kind of yard--I have plants that I want to keep, growing at the edges of the grass--it would mow over all my native plants!
Bree, I would be looking at those slip-in shoes if I didn't have a hammer toe which makes me unable to wear normal shoes. I was going to recommend them to my shopping friend since she can't put her own shoes on, but she watches a lot of tv and I'm sure she's seen all the commercials for them and would ask about them if she wanted them. Plus she'd have to order them online and probably return a pair or two until she got them to fit, and she has no way to return anything where she is now. Her walking is also severely limited since they kept pushing her to do physical therapy and that hurt her knees even more.
I tried to call my decluttering client but she didn't answer. I'm going to post in the challenges and then maybe go back outside and start staking plants.

Bree I'm delighted that encouraged you! Totally here for the slip on shoe love. We had to go shoe shopping tomorrow to get me some new Nikes after my last ones fell apart and I hated it. I am not really at the age for slip ons, but with my back injury, I just tie the laces so they won't ever fall out and treat them like slip ons! Waiting for my new extra long laces to arrive so I can do that with my new pair! Yes Diane, she's always so funny, and will never admit she was wrong about something!

I did go out to the yard and put 3 stakes in--I love my drill and auger bit! What a difference from last year! I had to wait a while because one plant was near the birdbath and as soon as I started over there a robin came to take a bath--very, very slowly! So I just sat and watched until the bath was over.
I realized that the rest of the plants that need staking only need short stakes, so I'm going to cut some in half and use those, later. I did a little weeding too and it was still too warm to stay out for a long time, although much better than it's been.
Now I'm going to do some reading until it's lunchtime.
