Love this! I use BetterBody Foods Organic Cacao Powder but it's getting expensive nowadays. I do "subscription" via Amazon to get it delivered regularly with a discount for subscribing to the cacao. In the mornings, I put hot coffee in a large cup and then add a couple of heaping tablespoons of cacao to my coffee. I sweeten with liquid stevia. Usually I use half-and-half or almond milk. But adding a dollop of heavy cream makes all the difference. Comparing the brands, I've noticed that BetterBody Foods has more magnesium than the other brands. But not sure I can afford it anymore. Because I make strong coffee, adding the raw cacao powder makes it very caffeinated. So I have to be careful with it, so that I don't get too jittery or heart-pounding! When I do it correctly, I find that the cacao helps focus my brain and gives endorphins. I was just looking at Amazon, and besides higher prices, the varieties of cacao seems different than 5-6 years ago when I was doing my cacao shopping/experimenting. Back then the available brands appeared much different than now. Far more cocoas of foreign/European origin back then. I must have tried a dozen brands. Some I wanted to try were just too expensive, and others just disappeared if I wanted more. I had settled mainly on the taste of Navitas, but while reliable, it too was expensive. Until I discovered my Costco was selling it at 1/3 the price of Amazon. !!! $7 compared to $21. So I purchased a case of it. They don;'t carry it all the time, but when they do, I'll pick up a pound or two. As far as 'best buy' dates, I pay very little mind to them, especially for dry goods. I've never tasted a cocoa powder that seemed too old. I did notice now Amazon is carrying their own brand with relatively good ratings and a good price. If I were still experimenting, I'd probably give that one a try. But ratings and price can be deceiving. I once purchased Trader Joe's cacao, also with good comments, and they make good things, and I found it to be very disappointing. I gave it away. Personal taste, and all.

Thanks, BetsyMarie for the recipe. We don’t have Navitas here, we mostly have a brand called Frye’s. I think it’s British. I used to always make my own hot chocolate from scratch but mug by mug, not a batch to use for longer. I discovered That cocoa powder doesn’t actually mix into milk! At least not by hand. So I’d mix it into some water and add butter. Why? Because I’d figured out that this was cheaper than a chocolate bar, and satisfied the same craving/desire. I’d heat it and then add cold milk. I hate hot milk. Oh and Splenda. Chocolate/cocoa is more expensive these days because of climate change. In recent years I’ve gone back to nestle quik which at my supermarket is the most natural brand with nearly no crap added to it (in Canada, American products tend to vary). Done: Caffeine 1&2 Meds 1&2 Vitamins minus iron

puppybox, I'm not very familiar with Korean food, but I'd love to try some! ta-da: Started laundry then moved it to the dryer Chickpeas, onion, carrot and seasonings are in the pressure cooker. I will add tomatoes when it's done Checked the mail twice. It usually comes by now, but there is none. Collected more eggs, cleaned them and put them in the fridge. Painted an old ugly canvas white. (Many years ago, someone had given us a dozen of these ugly printed canvases in different sizes, with the thought that we could paint them white and then use them for art projects. I have used a few of them in recent protests.) to-do: Eat lunch Continue with laundry Put away the remaining things from weekend trip.
