Hi Kimmy. It must be amazing to you to know how much your original post on Julie's board has helped so many people. After I read your post, I also found the former S.S. site and began purging and getting rid of much of my hoarded stuff. I was trapped in a huge, old, Victorian house in a very cold, snowy and icy place I didn't like in the midwest and didn't know how to move with so much stuff. Just didn't know how to manage it. After reading all the posts, I started purging and tossing and donating - and, now - a few years later am able to sit in front of my computer basking in the warmth of the sun - In a little house that is cute and neat. On the other side of the country that I never thought I'd make it to - due to so much "stuff" that I owned. (Still have the tendency to hoard stuff in the garage, but the boards encourage me to continually get rid of things that are no longer needed.) I'm just one person whose life you helped change by your brave cry for help. There must be hundreds of others out there. So, am very glad to see you post and a big thanks to you!  Margarita |

Hi Kimmy! I am so glad you found us at the new venue and joined up! I'm sorry I missed you in chat, I was out challenging but saw that you'd logged in after I got back. That's wonderful to hear that you've moved to a new place and the first inspection went smoothly. A treasure hunt, that's a good way to look at unpacking. Also encouraging that you find housework a joy and not a burden - maybe I'll reach that point someday.  Thank you for having the courage and bravery to share your story and working through your squalor. Your before and after photos were the first things I looked at when I first found Squalor Survivors, and gave me hope that working through and out the other side is possible. Welcome!  |

Hi Kimmy!!!! Your initial posts are what led me to Squalor Survivors (years later) and inspired me so much! I was so enthralled with the whole unfolding story that I sat and read the whole thing in one night! It felt like it was all happening right there and then, and I was part of it, even though ti had happened some years previously. I always wondered what happened after the story ended... if you got it all finished... if you managed to maintain... where you moved to... if you were ok after all that was going on in your life... what the outcome of any of that was!!! It's wonderful to hear from you and know at least that you are still trooping on!  I am also in Australia so feel you are sort of a *kindred spirit*. Lovely to *meet* you at last and to have shared your inspirational story. Anthea. |
