This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.) EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple: - Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing. Once you have 3 things done, post them here.- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again. [/color] Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post. Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da! If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you. Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM![/b]

goodmorning wantinmore, and welcome clutterbunny! It sounds like you all are well on your way to a productive day!
I've been gone over the weekend and discovered yesterday that I lost my checkbook (!). I lost it out of town, so I don't think there's any chance of recovery. So... yesterday was spent worrying, calling every business that I visited, talking to our bank, talking to my husband... and was a nervous wreck all day. But I'm better today... we moved most of the money to a different account, but left the old one open to let prior written checks clear.... (put stop payment on the 3 remaining checks) I am of course obsessed with making sure that no electronic xfers occur until we close it out, but vow to never let this happen again!
moving onward... tadas for today: -showered and dressed -took oldest dd to school -start laundry
todos: - change kitty litter - go to store - put away laundry

Good morning, Rosebud, clutterbunny, wantinmore, and janie!
Welcome, clutterbunny! I know about sick, tired, and overwhelmed; one step at a time, no matter how tiny, will eventually get you where you want to go. Working in threes is great for that!
Good for you, janie, for tackling the lost checkbook issue right away and protecting your account!
As for me:
"Early to bed and early to rise Makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." -Benjamin Franklin
"Early to rise and early to bed Makes a man healthy, wealthy, and dead." -James Thurber
I'm a Thurberite, myself. Read until waaaaaay late, slept like a rock until after 10:30 (thanks, DH!), and feel great.
DONE: -dressed -made the bed -taken morning meds -eaten breakfast--er, brunch
TO DO: -empty the dishwasher -clean the CPAP machine parts--if I don't list it, I tend to forget -go fabric shopping
Nice work, y'all!

Good Morning Everyone!
(Whew - had to check the time... thankfully, it technically still IS morning)
I'll chime in with being all too familiar with the Depressed, Sick, Tired, etc. I fight it far more often than I'd like to.
AND, like Wantinmore, I too often feel like its just not happening fast enough. I think that's the "never good enough" knee-jerk reaction coming in. I try to focus on what I HAVE accomplished, and talk back to those negative thoughts, putting them in their place with some good evidence that I am making progress, however slowly.
Ta-Da's 1) I'm vertical (ie, out of bed). ALWAYS a good accomplishment for us Depressive types. I really (REALLY!) didn't want to face the day today. 2) I've made and had coffee 3) I created an account HERE at SOS! I also created an account on TOSS, too!
I am SO VERY HAPPY to have a WITs thread posting place back. I really find this is an invaluable tool, especially when I'm feeling overwhelmed and stuck (like today). Hurray!
To-Do's: -More (and last) coffee -Shower and Dress -Send email to land engineering guy (I've been procrastinating on this a LONG time)
I hope everyone has a good and productive day! Keep these To-Do's and Ta-Da's coming! -Jane

I try to focus on what I HAVE accomplished, and talk back to those negative thoughts, putting them in their place with some good evidence that I am making progress, however slowly. I think that's why I like this thread. There are things we have to do everyday that take up time, but don't affect the things/projects that we have to do- stuff like getting up, taking meds, prepping/eating/cleaning up after dinner, taking care of pets and kids, putting out a new roll of toilet paper, etc. Even though we've done a lot, it doesn't *look* like it. I see this thread as a place to celebrate those things. I can say "Hey everyone, I had lunch" and it's a thing that I did. It "counts". With that in mind... Ta dahs * got up feeling pretty good * fed me and the cats * did my morning mail check To do * "To do" box- bureaucracy calls * grocery shopping I'm not sure what else. I've got plenty of things to do, but I've got to figure out where to start.

Good morning all (from the PDT time zone -8 hours (I think) GMT) I know that my struggles with depression are deeply interconnected with my clutter issues. I think my house is at least 50%, maybe even 70% on really good days, better than it was when I started decluttering. But it has not come easily, nor has it come fast. Slow and steady and not too much self-flagilation about bumps in the road or temporary build-ups of messiness and gentle and caring and understanding and compassionate and not giving up and babysteps seem to be winning the race. Glad you're here and that you're posting in WIT. Many hugs {{{{{{ClutterBunny}}}}}} And a collective YEAH! RAH! WAY TO GO! for all the rest of you -- what great progress you've made so far while I've been taking the James Thurber approach to life and bed. TADAs since last post: 1. Last night I worked on cleaning bathroom sink, counter, mirror, toilet, floor during TV commercials (and parts of the show as I got into the progress I was making) It's been a while since I've done the two minute during commercial cleaning technique. I'd like to remember to do that more often. 2. Meds 3. Gave voting advice about judicial candidates to friend TODOs: 1. Make coffee, make bed, make breakfast 2. Vote 3. Continue with yesterday's organizational babysteps in study -- going through fliers to put dates on calendars then recycling the fliers, filing the stuff I put in the filing pile, that sort of thing. Hope you all have great days! WestsideStory
