Hello,
First off, I wanted to say how GLAD and RELIEVED and HAPPY I am that you've started this message board - I was very anxious about SS closing down, but this seems to work wonderfully and is quite straightforward to use.
I have a question about Privacy. On the other newly started "Toss Siblings" site, AH mentioned we should make our posts "friends only" so that Web-Trawlers or Web-Crawlers didn't pick up any private information. Also, I know the community area of SS wasn't "browsable", and didn't come up in searches, except for the main static pages with information about Squalor and Hoarding.
So, is there a setting we need to put "on" or "off" in order to keep our ramblings shared among members only? How does this work? Have you addressed this question somewhere else, and I've just overlooked it?
Thanks very much - I'm thrilled to have a "new" place to be at ease among my SS (and now SOS) Siblings!

Jane, I would suggest that in the interest of privacy, you limit your commentary about things that would personally identify you to the general public. If you don't want to be found on the internet, don't give out information that would make you easily found. Two options that come to mind in your profile settings are: your email address and your gender. You can hide them, so they are not visible to other members or the public. Other than that, as long as you do not post your real name and your address, and keep other identifiers vague, trawling and crawling should not be an issue. I notice in your profile, you have not hidden your gender or your birthdate. You can do so if you prefer, by going to your profile: Jane In Green's profile Go to 'modify profile' and click on that. There you can make changes to your profile.
