REPOSTED FROM LJHELP!!! I'm not quite sure where to post on this site besides WITS. I woke up this morning and no electricity, called electric co. and let them in my basement(WOW), it's bad. Found out I have a blown fuse and they were extremely helpful(old house 100+ yrs) I was in a panic. What's happening right now in my life is that this Sat. I'm going out of state to help my mom after knee replacement surgery. I feel myself becoming overwhelmed and close to hiding under the covers. I'm the one who got the new couch and my living room is all done. I have someone taking care of my cats for 3 weeks and I'm feeling like everything must be perfect in the house, I know it doesn't. I have to pack and also make sure bills, rent etc are in order before I leave as well. So while electricity was out I made lists see below. I need help and encouragement, really I don't even know I'm so anxious. tadas -started list for "thing I need to do before I leave, that have nothing to do with cleaning" - started list for "things i need to bring for trip" - started list for "essential cleaning projects, not everything" todos -try to figure out where to post this in toss - take care of myself, like breathe -remind myself the most important thing is being there for my mother Thank you all!!!!! artsygal

Yay Cando on the laundry! My nemesis.
Done: 1. Soaked a load of whites and am washing it. Yes. It's true. 2. Removed contents of dryer. Folded everything and brought it upstairs to put away. 3. Brushed three cats, some more willing than the others.
To Do: 1. Get dressed and primped to visit parents' house. 2. Put away laundry. 3. Put load into dryer and start new load.
ETA Ahh artsygal.. you must have written right when I was starting. It is always brave to invite service people in the house. I am glad that they helped you out with minimal issues. My place is now presentable for people to see, but I still fight my introverted side to let strangers into the house.

Guihong, I am curious about your name. It reminds me of Gui Hua (Hope I got that right.) The tree that blooms in fall with small, very fragrant flowers. THe Englis name is Osmanthus. Mellow, after reading your post I walked into the kitchen, where the clock said 2:54. Then I realized there was an empty bottle in the way. The clock really said 12:54. (Still don't know if that is the real time.) Ta-Das: Cooked and ate ravioli;Brewed tea. Called an ex-BF for technical help. He said why not use clothing elastic to replace strap on my swim goggles (DUH!) Emailed Sailing club re Sailing this Wednesday. To-Dos: Find clothing for tonight's concert. Bathe. Wrap and adress my Bookmooch books.

Wantinmore, you rock! WTG on your TADAs. SimpleGifts, glad you figured out what to do about those swim goggles (and that you have a cordial relationship with exBF)
TADAs: 1. More pots and pans cleaned 2. Covered Freecycle futon with former couch cover -- not sure which looks better -- uncovered futon which does not quite go with rest of stuff, or covered futon, which looks somewhat drab and boring with drab and boring cover. Hmm. 3. Recycled and reused small afgan into pillow cover for unmatching Freecycle giant throw pillow so it harmonizes better with futon, cover, and living room decor *bonus* more progress on nephew CD project
TODOs: 1. Get putty knife to remove adhesive contact paper with -- thought I had one from a million years ago but it is nowhere to be found. (A victim of too zealous decluttering? A figment of my imagination? My exBF's which he brought here to use and took back home?) 2. Deal with contact paper 3. Start putting things back in cabinet
Great to see this place settling into a familiar rhythm!

PS I like the green background
and the blue headers
I find them somewhat soothing
and don't seem to have as much difficulty as others in looking at them.

::Waves hi:: 1)Loaded and ran dishwasher 2)vacuumed dining room 3)Used Bissell steamer on the dining room rug. It's not perfect, but its lots of shades lighter now. I still need to move my clutter off the dining room table and move my sewing desk, but I decided I should work on the carpet on a non-rainy day. It's supposed to rain a lot here in a few days, and the carpet needs to be able to dry. Now that I can stand the sight of the carpet---it was BAAAD---I'll get back to reclaiming the rest of the dining room. No animal pee, but lots of old food spills from thrown sippy cups, etc... I'm tired, but feel much better about the carpet now. I like this board a lot!

I cannot recall who asked, but my name (guihong) is Mandarin for "precious ruby". Gui means "dear" or "expensive" and hong is "red" or "ruby". Guihong was the name of one of my students when I taught there one summer.
Anyway...
Tadas: 1.Got dinner ready 2. Cleaned up the dining room floor (nice not to step on Legos) 3.Fed my son and got him down to bed
Todos: 1.Clean off the table 2.15 minutes in the living room 3.Gather up rest of laundry

MessyMissy - thanks for this board and for starting the WITs thread: Westside Story - nice job on the Freecycler, we need to do some of that too... Cando - Excellent work on the laundry - way to not let it just sit in a basket (I wouldn't know anything about that.
Tadas: 1) Did three loads of laundry at mother-in-laws house 2) Folded said laundry except for stuff to be hung dried 3) Took day off and took DD to a children's bookstore near MILs house! Fun!
Todos: 1) CLEAN CLOSET WITH MOUSE POOP IN IT! (Sorry for shouting, but the mice have been gone since late winter and anyone who read another post on this topic knows what angst it's been causing me) 2) Hang up clean laundry that needs to be line dried 3) Take DD to speech therapy

Re: contact paper... My mum taught me a long time ago to use vinyl wall paper to line my shelves. It is washable, and I can choose if I want to lightly wet the underside to make it stick, or to keep it dry to keep it easily removable.
Wantinmore, seems to be a laundry day for many... What have you decided for dinner?
Done: 1. Visited parents' and sister's family (lots of time with 2mth nephew) 2. Emptied washer. Hung some clothes and put rest in dryer. 3. Emptied dryer and folded clothes. Brought upstairs.
To Do: 1. Put away folded clothes. 2. Quick mop of entrance and kitchen floor. 3. Continue work for school and adoption papers
