I am very proud of you for throwing those things away. Your words, especially the one I quoted, is a real inspiration/motivation for me. I have copied this, and will use it as one of my "reminders" when I get stuck, as I so often do. So often? Constantly, actually.
Thanks for posting this.

Pickles, I don't mind the joking, I was enjoying the exchange. Everybody needs to let go and laugh now and then! Thank you all again for your comments and Dayeanu, I'm glad you were able to find something useful in my post. I'm new here and just starting to grasp the idea that my attachment to things is not "normal" and maybe I can learn to let things go. Good luck to you too!

I STILL get a pang of guilt in my tummy when I think of the perfectly good Land's End burgundy cardigan I threw away that both of my boys wore when they were little. It was in a pile in my younger son's room when I cleaned it out in AUGUST. But I sure feel good when I see his room squalor-free (accumulating a little clutter lately, but no squalor). I don't know if I felt guilty because it was something my boys wore when they were smaller or because I really thought someone could use it....well, it's done.
In honor of this thread, I have decided to give myself one week on the bag of paperbacks/hardbacks I loaded up from my dresser today. If I haven't taken them to donate by next weekend.....out to the trash they are going! Someone hold me accountable!
Pickles.....you crack me up honey!
