Hi everyone. I followed from SS, which I found a couple months ago, but I Was not a member. I remember so well, the shock of finding out that there are folks who have worse clutter problems that I do. I think I fall into level 1 when I get bad. My ADD sometimes flares up and things get impossible for me to do. Suprisingly, I have found that my hording honey has the skills to help me get going when I get stuck!. I am better at cleaning than he is, but he is better at getting up and out of the house. We seem to complement each other. However, my large home is still over full of craft supplies that I cannot bear to part with. THey cost so much that it seems a sin to let them go untless it is to someone who will use them. I have finally reached a level where I can allow my friends and famaily to go shopping in my stash room. You know, tho, that not everything fits there. The rest clutters up my home and I feel unable to part with most of it. Recently I found that a couple of boxes of unfinished ceramics was bugging me. I meditated about it a while and found that I really do not want them. THey were gited to me by a retired woman who wanted them to go to to good home, so I took them. Perfectly good parts but nothing I will ever finish. Clutter by any other word. I also realized that I cannot thow out perfectly good parts. So I have a vison of palying baseball with the parts - or bowling. Anyway, I think that if I have a bisque busting party, then I could sweep up the debris and throw it way. Once it is broken it will be garbage and OK to toss it. Am I crazy? My HH thinks I am. He is trying to talk me into making an art project out of them. I just want them gone. So I will do it while he is out of town. I think that smashing all those cluttering items will be a big release. I look forward to screaming in delight as I bounce another one off the driveway. Why do I feel the need to destroy it rather than just toss it in the trash? Oh well, no animals or humans will be hurt in this little experiment. Sounds like fun to me.

I just thought I'd say a belated welcome, and I hope you had fun breaking the crap out of those horrid reminders of Unfinished Business. No offense to your honey, but that kind of advice is noooooo help to hoarders. We need to Get Rid of It. "By Any Means Necessary," as Ms. Betty Shabazz's hubby once said.

I am new to reading the intro, just wanted to reply quickly as am at work- I often give stuff to my dog so she'll chew it up, then its really garbage and I can toss it.

hi dollmaker and welcome! have fun smashin' those godawful things and then toss them! i am in the same boat as you; i have so many supplies that cost so much. but then i learned about spent money and found money. spent money (however much!) cannot be retrieved; you'll never get back what you put into something, cash-wise. but found money is when you have a sale or something and get some money; that is good! you're doing great with getting rid of stuff! hooray for eliminating all of those "someday" projects and"potential art projects"; we can't do 'em all!

Hi, Dollmaker. Do you know if there's a Freecycle group in your area? I, too, hate to see things "wasted" (as if they're anything else, unused and cluttering up my life), and I've found Freecycle to be a wonder at helping with that. (If you're not familar with Freecycle, check out the concept and links for your area at Then again, smashin' stuff up can be pretty cathartic.
