Hello, I'm artsygal and joined a week ago when a dear friend found this site for me. I've always been "messy" but around 6 yrs. ago I have been a level 3 on and off. I have an extremely hard time with maintenance. Garbage is my number one foe. I am single, 36, and live alone with my 4 dogs , 2 cats, and 2 birds. I rent a 3 bedroom house, that has 8 rooms total, a full basement and a walk in attic. I'm a recovering alcoholic sober for 9 yrs with panic and depression issues. I'm on meds and see a therapist weekly. This is my first time really addressing my squalor issues. My brother passed away very unexpectedly 6 yrs ago that's when the squalor escalated. In my immediate family I have also lost my father and a sister. I have no immediate or extended family in the same state as me, not even within driving distance. I am very excited (but also scared) to participate within this group. I know from my AA experiences and grief groups how much sharing, talking and encouraging others with similar issues has been most helpful. I'm just a little frustrated to tackle yet another issue, but I know if I don't, I will not be living the wonderful life that I deserve, and will continue to use squalor as an excuse to keep people from getting too close. All the best to everyone, artsy

Welcome! As far as the history of the people here, I am fairly new too. I can relate to a lot of what you said. (I am familiar with AA, I use clutter to keep people away, dealt with depression and panic, and I am "artsy" too! What kind do you do?). I hope to hear more from you.

Thanks Crismson! I majored in fine arts drawing and painting, I tend to dabble in all art forms. But mainly oil painting and photography. Here is a photo I took of my cat Wilber.

Cool pic, Artsy! We have something else in common! Since I am recently obsessed with photography lately, I take loads of photos of my 4 cats (and 1 dog). I love yawning pics! It makes them look crazy and cute. I'll have to post one too.

Hello, Artsygal! I really like your photo of Wilber. 'Great texture details and I love how the whiskers are highlighted.
