Rennie, I am moving this to the "Technical Help" Section. Please go there and look under topic- OK, Still Need Help With Avatars. This should help you with your question. I have also posted the info below: What you'll need to do is go to a website that hosts online photo albums for people. One of them is www.photobucket.com There is one at www.flickr.com And there are several other large websites of this type. Check out those sites, and join one. Use a username for joining the site that you will remember. You might want to join with a username for your desqualoring identity. If you already have an account with them -- for things you'd publicly show friends and family ... then I suggest opening a different account with different username for your desqualoring stuff. Each account on one of those sites would need a different username and differently associated email address. That way if you tell your friends .. "log onto my photobucket site to see my beach vacation pictures" ... they won't accidentally see your photos of the messiness. Anyhow .... to get back to the point... 1) Get an account with one of those sites. 2) Upload your avatar picture from your computer onto your online album at the photo website. 3) After it appears in your photobucket or flickr album, then go to the photo there and rightclick to get its properties. You need the exact URL of your photo. 4) Come here to this forum, open your profile, and click "edit profile" 5) paste the URL of the picture in where it asks for it for your avatar. |

Moggy, I still have no idea what I'm doing....but I'm kind of getting it. I'm totally lost at livejournal, so I won't be going there. Looks like this is my new home.  It's easier to get to this site without using Firefox, and I like the chat option. I added my AIM SN so if people have AIM, they can IM me. It looks like I can't use my counter here.  I don't know where I can get another one. Thanks to Missy for adding the coffee cup!!!!  |
