"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it."--Helen Keller
Depression. For many of us here at SOoS, depression, clutter, and squalor go hand in hand--depression caused our mess or the mess caused our depression or maybe it's a little of both. But no matter what causes your depression, once it gets you down, you often feel as if you'll never be able to get back up, much less clean anything up.
Whether you're suffering from a bad case of the blues or dealing with more serious clinical depression, it's easy to feel like no one else understands and that you're facing this mountain of gloom and doom all alone. But at SOoS, many of us really do understand because we've been where you are or are experiencing the same feelings ourselves right this very minute. So come on over--you're not alone anymore. We've got advice, support, shoulders to cry on, and a lot of hugs. And this month I'm bringing quotes that will hopefully give you some guidance, inspiration, and help while you're working on kicking that depression--along with the rest of the mess--to the curb.
“There are wounds that never show on the body that are deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds.”--Laurell K. Hamilton, Mistral's Kiss
“Those who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.”--Alan Cohen
“Some people see scars, and it is wounding they remember. To me they are proof of the fact that there is healing.”--Linda Hogan
"Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come."--Robert Schuller
"The only courage that matters is the kind that gets you from one moment to the next."--Mignon McLaughlin
"1. Out of clutter, find simplicity. 2. From discord, find harmony. 3. In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity."--Albert Einstein
