Like many people here, I have been inspired by Kimmy's de-squalor story, and think she is truly amazing for not just achieving that, but for everything she has done.
Now might be a really good time to send her some love, some positive thoughts, and some "yay" vibes - cos wherever you are, Kimmy - we love you!!
Here for you if you need us.
Thinking of you xoxoxo

I agree.
Kimmy, Thank you for being so brave as to admit your squalor and get help and do something about it. Now that we have this site, we are all comfortable admitting it, but I am sure many of us cannot imagine coming out of the squalor closet if this site did not exist. You were ahead of your time!

- For anyone wondering who "Kimmy" is ... She is a member here with username " Warrior Kimmy". She was the first to post online about her squalor and recovery. And from that first thread (on a former forum) was born the idea for the website Squalor Suvivors and from that, these forums. Kimmy's first post was on May 20, 2001, North America time or May 21, 2001, Australia time. To be exact, her first post was at this time: timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?p1=0&year=2001&month=5&day=20&hour=17&min=49&sec=0&sort=1That story from Kimmy from the year 2001 ... is from our SOS member Warrior Kimmy
NOTE: Warrior Kimmy is a member here at SOS, and does visit and read here. Like ALL members here, from time to time, she might occasionally need support, too.

I made the first step by finding Soos.... it was made possible by further reading Kimmy's story. Kimmy, you have changed the lives of many grateful people with your courage and kindness in sharing your story. Love SNM and all her fur kids who now have a clean and orderly home to live in

Love you, dearest of warriors. Grab that blanket* and get a hug from us all. Keep fighting. *On her first anniversary I gave Kimmy a fuzzy blanket and told her let the blanket hug her rather than her squalor. She mentions every once in a while.

Kimmy, Kimmy, Kimmy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have given me hope and those you have inspired continue to pass it on. As we all try to convey our appreciation, pat yourself on the back for leaving your mark and making the world a better place.

- Warrior Kimmy, Your brave posting of your story and photos made me know there was hope. It's been nine years since you made your first post. Thousands of us have been inspired to change our lives. If you ever need us, we'll be there for you! Love, Lioness
The following is in honor of Kimmy: We used to dance the "Squalor Shimmy" -- that sideways step on narrow pathways between piles of stuff. Thanks to Kimmy, we have clear floors ... and space in our heart for hope! Remember that song "High Hopes". About the ant who never said Can't and was able to move the rubber tree plant. This is Frank Sinatra singing the song with some children: Original lyrics here ... www.spiritofsinatra.com/pages/Lyrics/h/High_Hopes.htm This is for Kimmy:Next time you're stuck, with mood in the muck, Read some posts here, .... and recover your pluck! Our Kimmy was first member of board. Conquered squalor with her warrior sword. Nobody could make the light of Kim, dim! For her we sing this hymn! Kimmy's got spunk and hope, Kim's got spunk and hope! Scraped the gunk, and she's shrunk ... all her junk ... with hope! When you're demand resistant, Please don't be distant! Just remember our Kimmy! Woosh, stuff's gone! and no more squalor shim... Woosh, stuff's gone! and no more squalor shim... Woosh, stuff's gone! and no more squalor shimmee!

Wowie, nine years! I'll be drinking a toast to you tonight! (heck, I may not wait until tonight!) Nine years ago, I had not quite yet begun my descent INTO squalor, so my goal - which I will declare today, in honour of your anniversary - will be to get myself back to where I was nine years ago, knowing that's when you began your journey out of Hell. I'm disappointed I have never been able to read your original post/thread, as I've been unable to get the links to work for me. So that's my other goal: to one day read "The Post that Swept the World!" Thank you for your bravery, and your pioneering spirit. Truly. I hope you come back sometime and post again with us here when you can! Happy Anniversary. Please come back. With a warm hug, and a fizzy toast to you!

So that's my other goal: to one day read "The Post that Swept the World!" Lotusblossom, the original thread is gone and one of the links on the Squalor Survivors site was broken. But the thread was archived elsewhere on the "internet archive" website.
