I think I'm going to get behind the bushes in our front yard and pick up all the old cans and bottles and things that should have gone into the recycle bin months ago. That'll be my earthday thingie. Can you think of anything you can do today to be a little greener?

My focus all week has been my garden. Today I emptied my garden storage bin that had been in the garage and found new homes for everything in a more accessible place. I sorted and re-organized all my seeds and chose several more for plantings, which I will be getting to in a few minutes. I put 2 more cardboard boxes into the recycle bin, as they are now empty (from the garden storage bin.) This week I have filled 2 large black plastic bags with trash from my yard (broken containers and that sort of thing). Every day I pull dandelion weeds, my attempt to diminish the need for weed control chemicals, although I know that Hubby will add chemicals to the lawn at some point. I picked up a plastic bag that the wind had blown into our bushes & put it in the trash. As of a couple of days ago, I have added all of the usable compost from my compost bin, so I have been building that up again with leaves from the yard and kitchen waste. I do purchase seeds, but I also harvest my own seeds, particularly the marigolds, squashes, peppers and a few others.
Well, time to get out there and get back to work in my garden. First up: harvest some broccoli leaves to cook for lunch today.
