to get stuff he had shred off floors and the air intake for my furnace which is floor vent and gets covered with hair from dogs and dirty as can be...so I pulled the shop vac all over the blasted place....came back to my bedroom and got online....finally I got back off line and went to get something to nibble on and drink and low and behold Shep had my underwear in living room and pair of jogging pants in hall way....uggg dumb dog hoards my stuff into his space....but he is always sleeping on my bed! which means that is our space....he has claimed the living room as his dominion and shredded every piece of cloth furniture in there as well as hoarded hundreds of clothing items from the pile next to bed...well I just dump off the clothes and they pile up....then he steals them and takes them to living room or sometimes outside....I find socks out there that are muddy and wet...underwear is embarrassing to find outintheyard!

You are his pack leader, BTT, and he wants to be close to you and have your things with/near him.
At least, that is how this cat person, who knows a little bit about dogs, would read the situation.
You are his hero.

! Shep is a "treasure" finder! (At least to his doggy way of thinking! ) Ahh, what a personality, shows really just how smart he is! While my dogs were young, & into chewing anything that didn't move. ... I would put them in a doggy crate at bedtime & when I left the house. They both got to where the loved their crates, & since I left the doors open when home, they would go in there for naps or just to chew on a toy. I also put old clothing that had my scent in their crates for them to sleep on so they could still be "near" me. I don't use the crates now, they have outgrown the chewing, they now sleep beside the bed on an old housecoat of mine. Don't know if you might like to try this.... Jkai3

BTT This sounds so much like my dog, Alia. She has taken over a loveseat and has completely destroyed it. Although she doesn't steal and hoard my clothes, her favorite thing is to get into the trash and take her latest prize into her crate. I don't know how many banana peels I have taken out of there already. I feel for you and wish you luck.

This sounds so cute!! I know it's probably not cute the 100th time it happens, but... You and Shep will have to work on your hoarding together!

Yeah, it does sound endearing. Recently I washed the black floormats of my car and they were not quite dry.... so I made the mistake of leaving them leaning against the bathroom air register. You can imagine it took all of five minutes for my three cats to knock them over, and to sit on the freshly washed surface. And boy oh boy does hair stick to car mats *sigh* I'm feeling your pain. But also appreciating the cuddle factor.
