Such a sad case To be a little fair to the family though, it did say the couple had cut off contact with family and friends before this happened... and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it wasn't over the state of how they lived. I've experienced folks that get very touchy over circumstances in their lives and when they cut you off, they *cut*you*off* ... *shrug* I do wonder what happened to editors at the news organizations... every report I've seen has stated they may have been without food *or water* for "as long as three weeks"... BZZZZZT Sorry, wrong answer, but thanks for playing and have this copy of biology 101 to take home with you.... /wtf

So sad indeed. I hope they pull through this and are able to live the rest of their life they have left in a comfortable home.

so, you have, elderly parents.... mid & late 70's. cant reach them cuz their phone is cut off... for a few weeks.... I read two articles and watched the video. I can't recall the couple's children; the 'relatives' identified were niece and sister. I wish to make a comment as a middle-aged person with my own health issues. Over the last 15 years, I have been one of the 'supportive' family members concerned in the care of my mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. If the 'elderly person' is at all unco-operative, it may be almost impossible to do the right thing. If we had heeded MY GRANDMOTHER'S OWN WISHES, she would have died in a fire, or from a fall, or in squalor. She was a lovely, vibrant old lady, but she had such a strong intimidating personality. Please let's not judge the family: who may be frustrated, angry and at their wits' end.
