I agree, this is not trivial, it is HUGE.
I have a hard time saying "no" to a sale, and a good portion of my paper clutter is coupons (which I save but forget to use! Aargh!)
This past year I have tried very hard to buy only what I need (or truly want) and to not be manipulated by bargains. It is easier said than done and so I commend you for not overspending on a "sale".

How wonderful! We are all so proud of you. What a major breakthrough for sure.

NOT a trivial thing. Not a small thing.

Congrats, mrsmess! I have the same problem, but I'm working on it too. Your post is a good reminder for me to buy less stuff.

Congratulations on walking it off! Once you do a thing like that, the next time becomes easier. Soon, it will be a habit not to buy what you do not need. Starting a new, healthy habit, breaking an old, unhealthy habit - this is GIANT!!!! Not trivial at all. Every big thing starts out small.
