I knew it as soon as I read it -- on an old thread about dealing with clothes -- she said, don't try it on, WEAR IT.
I knew it, but now I have proof. a number of days ago, i wore this skirt I was happy to unearth. and ...
uh-uh.
what are the things you've heard, read, seen or thought that have really materially worked out for you?

In byways I put in Byron Katies thoughts and Jillian Michals thoughts - sayings - Hey and Spice Girls works too - What do you WANT? What do you really really WANT?
Then I imagine the pyramids - I would LIKE to visit them someday (along with many other places) and I am NOT King Tut and they are NOT going to build a pyramid and put all my stuff in around me for eternity and that didn't even work for him in the long term. So why am I hanging on to this stuff for?
Less is more (make sure it is stuff you love!)

If you love X so much, treat it how it deserves to be treated. It needs a home and not to be living in a pile of whatever where it isn't used/appreciated. (Decluttering)
A friend told me that when she goes from room to room she takes something that is where she is that belongs where she is going. Sitting at the computer with a dirty glass and headed to the kitchen? Take it with you. It's not the fastest method of getting everything in shape quickly, but one day you'll look around and realize that this trip you have nothing to take to the kitchen with you. (desqualoring)

I love to read. Current events. Indepth articles. How-to's. Celebrity gossip. What to do in the garden this week. Just about anything in the headlines will interest me. Eclectic reading More like a total waste of precious time. Clutter of the brain. So I've started asking myself: Does this news impact my life? Do I need to know this? Almost always the answer is "No". With that I immediately stop reading the item. This train of questioning is becoming habit and occurs at about the 2-3rd paragraph of an article now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ditto for responding to SOS threads. To get myself away from a topic to which I "could" respond, I ask: Do I have anything new to add that hasn't already been said? Does this thread really need another "WTG" in addition to the 10-15 WTGs already there? If the answer is "No", I leave that thread and go on to something else. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These are 2 examples of how my thought process has changed since joining SOS. Both are a variations of the questions we ask ourselves when deciding whether or not to keep, donate or toss items of clutter.

well I even hung onto my hippie clothes from late 60s and early 70s and now am wearing them again to the music festivals I go to so what can I say? I have been successful in getting rid of some stuff tho. Sure is a slow process.
