One thing you want to do is ask this current landlord for a written reference stating you have always paid rent on time and been a model tenant - this letter may be useful in the future - especially since he is a private landlord - it helps to have this for future rentals - cause you never know what might happen. Keep this letter with your important papers - and then if you need it - you can make a copy.

Best wishes on your move, BTT. This is the first time I've seen your photo. Nice pic :~) You've done well to get your place in shape to let people in. Good job!

You probably won't need them, but do take photos after you're all moved out and the place is as nice as you're going to leave it.
Well done on having your place nice enough to let someone in!

I am going to get a letter from my landlord when I move - been here 20 plus years and then keep it at dd house - place might go out of business or management quit.
You never know what might happen and you might need that letter.
I am finding this with reference letters from jobs too. Work someplace 10 years = then work someplace 2 or whatever and then you go back to place 1 and they have all changed and don't want to give our a written reference.
Now I plan to get them quickly in the future.

you hit nail on head with references at work or college....I had a dickens of time getting those for teaching jobs....and they still look for them if you want to teach...I do not know what I would do if I was asked for references work wise....I have been job humping from 2001 opps should be jumping....
hugs btt

Go ahead and ask him for the written referense even though you are hunting frineds. He may not be around (moved, sick, passed away) when you need those referenses!

Best wishes on your move, BTT. Got a little cold shiver when you mentioned the reference letters for teaching. The school I previously worked for has been closed, and I never thought to get recommendations.

I am excited for you, BTT. You will be starting new and it will be so much easier to be organized starting with a clean, new space.
