So how does one get cat urine smell out of their litter box area - like the floor, walls, etc. It is linoleum, so no carpet, but after using vinegar, baking soda, pine sol, it still smells like pee! Help!

I got some stuff at a pet supply place called "Urine Off" when Angel peed on my carpet in the living room. It worked quite well and got rid of the urine smell and stain. I put it on the carpet almost immediately after she did it. It's about $7 for a 16.9 ounce spray bottle.

I used "Simple Solution". I see it is available in US and Canada as well as in the UK. There is a separate product in the range for hard floors and also one specifically for cat urine. I just used the standard product on floorboards and on carpet. I found I needed between two and four treatments for it to have an effect. www.simplesolution.com/products_us/so_remover.htmlThat web page also has links to the other products

Thanks for the tip, Rennie! Will you add it to the "urine-cleaning" thread? Urine Odor/Stain Removal (list of methods):takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=8031For those interested, that thread has many ideas for cleaning up urine. Some of the methods are for recent urine stains, and some for aged urine stains. Note the explanation about cat urine stains changing chemically with age. If anyone knows of additional methods, it would be great to add them to that thread.

If the litter box is near a wall, or a seam in the floor, then some of the litter, or even some actual cat pee, may have gotten down under it and that might be what you smell. If that is the case, I would try pouring some vinager along the baseboard or seam so that it runs down up underneath the flooring. You could also pull it up and clean under it and put it back, unless it is glued down.
Once you have the problem fixed, you might want to try putting the litter box on either some plastic garbage bags, or those waterproof pads that they use in hospitals so it doesn't get down there again.

MessyMom, I use OdoBan. I buy the concentrate, but I don't dilute it. You can wash the linoleum, wall, and baseboard using a wet (not damp) cloth. That should do the trick. If not, apply the same way another time. After the odor is under control, you can start diluting the OdoBan or switch to the ready-to-use. I buy it at the home supply store.
