Reading through some of the older posts, I've found that I know a tip to solve the problem that hasn't been mentioned in the thread. Is it ok to post to those old threads and cause them to move back up here?

Fine by me. But you may get more readers if you quote that one in a new post and then add your text. Maybe. Maybe I'm making that up. Aw heck. Just post whatever you want.

Yes, it is okay to post to an older thread. There are many fine threads that are nice to have bumped up for newer members to read and/or respond to.
IMO this is preferable to starting a new thread on a topic we've already discussed.

I've been reading through lots of the old threads too. I noticed the Lioness bumps up or links to a lot of really old threads with some great tips, observations or advice in them.
