I am doing a load of laundry tonight and then decided to go to take another load to the new house...this time things like clothing that I will not be wearing next week...long sleeved shirts, coats, long pants...got all that to the new home, closed up and came home to go to basement and move laundry to dryer and low and behold the machine has caused another flood in the basement....not ten weeks after the last flood that when reported to the out of town owner caused him to tell my landlord they were going to dump the house in sale.... Again the floor is wet in basement at the sewer hole for the drain from the washing machine....this time it did not back up far enough to get anything wet which it did last time.....I just moved on unloaded the washer and filled the dryer, turned it on and refilled the washer with the second load for tonight. I have one more full load to go which will include the current sheets on this bed and my down comforter.....then the washing is done for last time in this house by ME.... the clothes coming out of washing/drying are things I will be wearing this week or next...short sleeved shirts with pockets for my cell and some shorts of Kahki which I can wear for work, and some underwear that will get folded and put into box to be moved along with what is in the drawers of chest of drawers.... hugs btt I guess I am glad to be leaving this dump.... oh just for fun what level of squalor am I in when I find that the dog has pooped in the basement because I left that door open and he thinks it is ok to pee or poop right in front of me in there? I bagged it up and tossed it aside for now....will trash it when the trash can makes it back to basement this week. hugs btt

Btt, when I read the title to your thread I thought you were going to say that the owner of your new rental house was going to sell it!
I'm glad it's "only" a flooding washing machine. Yes, it's good you're going to be leaving the old house.

Sounds like the new place will be better for you in the long run - just getting there is really hard work (sort of like what I am going through) - change can be hard work - but it has it rewards!

I wonder if the sewer drain is blocked up with tree roots or something else (grease, object, etc.). When it is blocked, it's enough to cause the washing machine to back up and flood.
It has happened to me far too many times in the past, and it sounds VERY familiar. I have even had the excitement of churned feces spilling out of the hole. Very appealing. *sigh*
Definitely the owners should have addressed that issue. Good that you're moving soon.

Eeww!!
No wonder plumbers charge so much. Routing out those pipes cannot be fun...
