The good news is that now you can see it as backsliding! In the past, you would have just went on and on and never cleaned at all (right?). So that in itself shows progress, which is a great sign!
Maybe doing a couple of chat challenges will help? I always find that gets me going when I feel like I haven't cleaned forever and I hate everything and don't know where to start.

Hey Glimmer! It is OK to have down time! We all need it for one reason or another. You'll be back in the saddle again very soon-desqualoring like mad. In the meanwhile, go do something you enjoy. Google activities that cost nothing, pick one and do it.

heat humidity are hard to deal with. i had such a good 3 day weekend 2 weeks ago but the heat wave since then has stalled progess for me too.
you said it feels longer than 10 days- that's good! you can't wait to get back to "normal"- your new normal is clearing out and getting stuff accomplished. your new abnormal is not caring.
your outlook has TOTALLY changed, I'd say!!! Congratulations !!!!!

Agreed. Wanting to vent about this, instead of thinking it is normal, is great progress, at least in your head.
So now, give us (and yourself) a "glimmer" of the "fighting feline" in you, and build on the work you did last night.
Even if you can't have your place clean by your 41st birthday (and hey, I won't have mine done by my 47th, either!), you can have it done. Yes, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today. The best time to have your place clean is a long time ago. The second best time is to get after it so it will be as soon as reasonably possible.
Heat and humidity are killers, I agree. We live in the Louisiana swamp heat with a now it works/now it doesn't A/C, so I get it. You have to reward yourself with cooling off time for doing something. Go after a task, either one that won't take long or a portion of one you have broken into chunks, then get in bed with an ice pack on your chest and a fan blowing on you. Relax and cool off for 10-15 minutes, then do it again.
Consider this the positive sign that it is, and let it put the burr under your saddle that you need to get you up and going again.
You can do it.

Hi Glimmercat, getting and keeping your place clean is going to be some steps forward and some back--probably forever! Hopefully there will be lots more steps forward, but unless you become perfect overnight , you will have times when you backslide. What is urgently important is to keep trying, even when you don't feel like it. That way the steps backwards will be smaller and farther between as time goes on. I totally agree about the heat, it completely derails me, I get headaches, I feel fatigued, sometimes even nauseous. I'll be sitting in a room and suddenly feel like I'm suffocating because the heat is just pressing in on me--I have to go stand in front of a fan when that happens. What I've found helps when it's really hot is to aim the fan on me (from the back, otherwise it dries my contact lenses out!) and to always have a glass of ice water with me (or iced lemonade, or something similar). Then I work on things that I can do sitting down--like going through paperwork. That way I feel like I'm getting something accomplished even though I'm not exerting myself physically. And Mimi has the right idea about icepacks! I have a couple of those little rectangular plastic ice things that I keep in the freezer, and when it's unbearable I take one out and keep it with me while sitting in front of the fan--if you move it back and forth from wrist to wrist (so you don't freeze your skin) it really helps! Hang in there, and keep posting--you'll get back in the swing of things. Diane

Thankies for letting me vent like that; you guys are awesome! Neither of my sisters wants to listen to me vent and I've just stopped seeing my therapist (who, incidentally, was against venting, too) so it was really good to just spew that out. (Did I get any on you?? ) I do feel better and more hopeful once again; I suppose a little extra sleep (and some TLC today) helped, too. The heat will continue to be an issue all summer and I'll muddle through it somehow. I may have to wait for another cool break before I can make any more big changes in the room, but in the meantime, I can definitely sit on my bed while going through papers/magazines. I'm also starting to design my Maintenance Plan so I'll have it ready to go for when I actually get my room more organised. I love planning things, so that will be fun. And once my internet finally gets connected to my own computer, I'll be able to get back into WIT and stuff more regularly. meow
