My Mom is a big squalorer. Has been for 45 years. She's now 87, blind, on oxygen due to smoking. living in a big cluttered home with my brother (her son). I've lived on my own since I was 21, my clutter is my problem. I'm dealing with it. I visit her about twice a year. It's got so bad I can't even stay with her. Her rules-not my choice. Anyway, I'm going to visit her in two weeks, just for a couple of days. I called her yesterday and she told me "I've cleaned the bathroom for you". And even better yet, she told me she started working on a box of clutter, Christmas cards she's saved. She made comments like "I don't know why I saved all those." I tried to be sympathetic and supportive. I am really pleased. She's just realized her mess is a hazard and she doesn't want us to have to clean it all up affter she's gone.

Dear Fluffernut,
I pray she is granted enough time to deal with much, if not all of it, and that the two of you are drawn closer by her realization and your support of her.

to you and, My Mom could hardly sit up after the chemo, steriods, and compression fractures, etc., while she was still in her own home last fall...and she was still trying to declutter and purge. In my mind, I can still see her struggling to place one piece of paper at a time into the shredder or the recycle bag... Blessings to your Mom. I will be thinking of her today. her and love her as much as you can while she is still on Earth with you. I wish I could hug mine today.
