The title of the show is "Dr. Oz Show" for those of us who have never heard of this program. I had to look it up. It is showing on WHBF, a CBS affiliate here in my area. I don't know who else carries it. The show has it's own website: www.doctoroz.com/

I am sure there a many things we think 'everyone' has heard of or knows about, but I doubt it is true about anything.

It was only about a 15 to 20 minute segment - kind of interesting about our brains and how a part of it does this clutter/hoarding thing and why it does it.

It's on again later as a repeat on WHBF at 1:07 am Saturday (tonight after midnight) here in my area. If anyone still wants to see it, perhaps it is being repeated in your area also.
I have set my DVR to record it so I can watch for that segment.

i watched it online as i missed it on tv.
The medical part was very interesting. essentially there are 2 parts to the brain involved, a primitive fight or flight part called the amygdala and the more rational part. so at some point anxiety gets attached to getting rid of stuff (the primitive "alert! alert! danger! part gets activated) and the rational part doesn't effectivly talk to it and say "calm down its just a vase and we already have 5 vases". so you have to tell yourself to tell yourself -this anxious feeling can beendured and will diminish over time, you just have to wait it out. and you get rid of something and wait it out. with practice the primitive brain starts to trust the rational part more and the feelings decrease more and more.
summary -throw it out and endure the crazy feelings. they WILL go away, you have to wait it out.
I was totally annoyed they had the expert come say -you mustn't rush the person, you mustn't do it with out them -then they cleaned her living room and dining room while she was away!!!!! WTF?
one person who asked a totally unrelated health question has given me a lead for a problem that's been reducing my quality of life for 15 years. of course, this non prescription stuff is not available in canada, that would be too easy.
