I can't do chat right now, due to some technical issues at my house, so was just wondering if anyone might want to play along with me and do like we do in chat... 15 minutes or just challenge yourself to do one thing and then check back in here to tell what you've done. We can cheer each other on, too, just like in chat. However; do at our own timing. Not a set time like top or bottom of the hour... So, I am going to start with just one thing and then check back in here. I sure hope someone will join me or many will join in. Newbies are welcome. Okay, here goes my first thing: Get dressed, brush teeth & hair. Be back in a few minutes! CD

Okay, I'll play along for awhile.
I'm not gonna get dressed yet, but I have been up for a little over two hours. Didn't sleep well last night.
Washed a sink full of dishes - well, not full but enough - dried and put away.
Found some canning jars downstairs that had been used to store dried beans, rice, pasta, whatever. So brought them up and washed 'em. Put new lids on because that's how I keep track of lids that haven't been used vs. have been.
Some of the jars were old blue Balls. Chipped rims so they can't be used for canning. Photographed them and sent with an e-mail to niece to see if she wants them. Her kitchen is in blues and sometimes she likes that sort of thing.
Made some waffles and found my syrup looked moldy on top. First time I've seen that. Is that normal? Maybe so since it's the real stuff, not artificial. Anyway, I ate one of the waffles with just butter. I guess I could have used jam. I'll freeze the others for some other time.
Next I think I'll photograph a counter-top convection I want to put on Craig's.

Hi Joy. Welcome & thanks for joining in! Wow! You already did a lot! I have never made home-made waffles, but I do make my own syrup. Not sure about the moldy on top... I would throw it out if has mold on it. Good luck selling your convection. I hope that you get want you want from it. So, I am dressed, hair & teeth brushed, perfumed, lip gloss. Also, swiped out sink and counter around sink after I did my teeth. Next for me will be a 15 minute challenge. Here goes! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Didn't get much done that 15 minutes due to phone calls. *Emptied front bathroom trash *got bills out to pay *got another check book out which involved going into the office of doom. and moving things so I could get to the office supply closet and then putting stuff back. *made copy of payment stub & envelope of where this payment is going to. Another 15 minutes... Poof! CD

i'm surprised there was mold on the syrup. maple syrup is sugar. sugar is a preservative. it doesnt last forever but pretty long in the fridge. I usually buy a big can and it takes me a year to eat it all.
one thing thats important- you must never get saliva into the container. like, if you licked a spoon then took another spoonful of jam or something. the saliva gets into the jam. saliva disolves or decomposes or whatever the word is to food. then maybe it would go moldy faster. if you wiped off the top of the syrup thing with your finger and you had licked your finger, maybe that would do it.
Is there any other mold in the fridge? maybe it caught on from something else.

Yep, I did that.
Got the oven photographed. Next I want to try to find a box it'll fit in so I can keep it clean and safe until it has a new owner.
Did the dishes from the waffle making. Cleaned up the waffle iron which I haven't done recently. Everything's put away.
I'm sorry, but I have to bow out now. Need to shower and dress. SIL and I will go out to lunch and then see part of the Parade of Homes.
Have a great day. I'll check back tomorrow.

Hi Puppy.
As far as I know, I didn't get saliva into it. It's only me here and I don't typically contaminate things that way. This was a small bottle with small neck. A spoon wouldn't have gone down in there.
It may not have been mold. It certainly wasn't the fuzzy kind. It was more like a really thin grayish film on top. I tossed it - there was only about 3/4" left in the bottle. No great loss except it is great syrup.
Thanks for the feedback.
Joy
And BTW, I wasn't keeping it in the fridge. Maybe that's my problem.

Info about 'mold on maple syrup': You don't have to throw it away. This Maple syrup company tells you how to deal with it here. Here is another maple syrup company with the same advise.

Hey Cando, you're making some good progress in spite of the phone calls. Way to go.
Lucky, you'll no doubt find yourself in less frustrating circumstances if you can at least find homes for those things you use a lot. I know your back hurts sometimes, but little by little just keep on keepin' on. Please don't settle for less than everything being put away where it belongs and you can find it. You deserve order in your life. If you use MS Word, I have a Whereisit.doc that I may be able to figure out how to share with you, so you can catalogue where you put things.
Eagle, thanks for the links. I'm going to look at those a little later.
Have a great and productive day everyone.
Later, Joy

Sorry to take a powder on y'all... BUT I am back now!!! I spent 15 minutes-- *paid 1 bill & got it ready to mail *looked at a couple other bills to see if I absolutely have to pay them today... only 1 of them. *So, got the check written out but have to pay at the kiosk if I don't want to pay $8.00 in late fees... Then, got upsetting phone call... they were going to try to remove the breathing tube, again, today from my DBIL. They weren't able to let him be without the tube after all, so they were waiting for a surgeon to do a tracheotomy. OMG! We are all so upset and more worried now. He's 48 yrs. old, father of two. Such a nice guy! THis is all just so sudden! It just cannot be... Then, had to: *take DD to work *had to go to post office that was open later on Saturday to mail that first bill payment. (Pretty far away) *went to the City and did that 2nd payment (water bill) *drank 2nd glass of water & took calcium pill Now, will set my timer for 15 minutes... Sorry for abandoning this thread. BTT -- Thank you for cheering me on!!! Can't wait to hear what you are unpacking and where you're putting it! Joy -- Thanks for playing. You did GREAT!!!! Poof! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back! *Went thru today's mail. *reviewed EOB and compared with Dentist Office bill -- this was for Oral Surgery DD had a couple weeks ago. Took me a while to figure it all out, but did. Everything is correct. Kept thinking that the Dentist Office owed me $20.00, but is not the case. *put plastic wrap in trash can *put a couple samples of a product that we got in the mail on DD's bed. Thought she might like to try them. *put about 1 1/2" stack of paper type trash in recycle bag Trying to decide what to do next... Hmmmm. Okay, put bills back in Office in a bag & move bag to my bedroom. Write reminder on calendar to pay more bills Monday morning & get them in the mail Monday MORNING. Also, write on calendar to pickup & drop off DH's clothes-cleaners. Make Chicken Noodle Soup (hope the chicken breast didn't go bad) I know that I won't be done with cooking by the time the timer goes off, but will check back in. So, here goes another 15 minutes. Poof! CD

I got sidetracked by baseball game...sitting here watching that instead of working...but I got start on house first...I had fly driving me batty...so I searched for missing fly swatter....found that and moved bucket with stuff in it for basement over by basement door, took a shelf out of living room that I wanted on wall by bed. Mounted shelf to wall next to bed and see the clock cannot go there so put the clock back on table but shelf stays for other stuff next to bed.....it is full arms reach from bed to height of shelf so I couldn't see clock well enough for when I wake in night to leave it on shelf...might be able to use other clock there....will check the face of the clock I was looking at tilted backwards making it harder to see...the other clock face is flat verticle...no tilt...might work...I just want to see clock from bed...can put other clock from table where the 2nd clock is now across room on top of dresser and see it fine from bed looking that way....
so I am stalled watching Cardinals Cubs game on TV...glad it is on Air TV not cable TV as I enjoy watching but cut off my directv last month....hugs Lucky
Cando it is no longer BTT it is Luckyleprechaun or Lucky or LL ok:>

Oops, so sorry Lucky! Don't know how I managed to mess that up ... unless it is from my lack of sleep. I was gone more like an hour, instead of 15 minutes that time. Had long phone call from DH who is in CA right now. Looks like the tracheotomy will be Monday instead of today. It also seems definite as they had specialists confer. They are trying to get a balance on his brother's meds as he was far too agitated when they tried to decrease the meds. So, it will be Wednesday or Thursday before they know anything more about him. (He went into full cardiac arrest while sleeping during the night almost a week ago, now. They were very concerned about brain damage due to possible swelling and was in a medically induced coma & cooled down for several days. We so badly wanted him to be able to have the breathing tube removed, and now it will be but tracheotomy as they cannot leave the tube in much longer). I don't know exactly what point that I became an emotional eater... some time after having kids, though. And, I am really wanting some cookies right now. I know, though, that it won't help me feel any better... so I am fighting this impulse and craving. Here's what I done: *put bills back in Office in a Bag (were spread out on dining room table) *put Bag in my bedroom on my bed, for now. *couldn't start the chicken cooking due to dishes in the sink. So, washed 1 sinkful of dishes. *drank 3rd glass of water also, noticed that these teeny tiny little bugs are back. I had managed to get rid of them for a few weeks. Argghh! Okay, going for 15, again. This time plan is to clean the pot to make the soup in. Cook the chicken & start the soup cooking. I am using Wyler's Mrs. Grass Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup mix. I hope that it turns out good. I doubt that I'll eat it as I dislike chicken noodle soup. Poof! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back! *cleaned the pot *rinsed, cut-up & got the chicken sauteeing Next 15 min. plan: read directions finish putting together this soup recipe fill ice cube trays put away hand-washed stuff from drainboard CD
