It's amazing how once you really get going how much you can let go of - I will not lie - it is painful at first. So far we've:
- Donated over 100 books to our local library (that we love and use so much) - Donated most of my craft room furniture (we won't have one wherever we move) - Shredded 3 yard size refuse bags of paper..this process is very healing *grin*
To go at our yard sale this weekend: my entire CD collection, more books, more furniture, sewing machine (don't worry we of course have more than one..*sigh*), loads of sewing patterns, craft supplies...this list goes on. My children have also done an amazing job at pitching in.
OK..back to work.. : )

So true, so true. It's very painful at first, especially when you contemplate letting things go, but once you get started it gets easier and easier and before you know it, it takes no thought at all.
You are putting some really saleable stuff in your yard sale. I hope it's a huge success. Congratulations on all you've gotten done so far.

Wow, some of that stuff is in the very, very hard to give up category---especially books and craft things. Well played, kerplush!

When you said yard size bags I kept thinking how does she have bags the size of a yard! You meant the big bags used outside for yard work? I kept picturing 3 yards filled with paper!

Think of how liberated you will feel when this is over! We bought a new house last year and when we moved we got rid of just about everything. At first it was painful but after a while I felt free. Here's to freedom!

Good going! I agree, the books and craft stuff sound particularly hard to let go. And I hope the yard sale goes well. We're supposed to move at some point in the not-so-distant future, and I'd really like to just get rid of a bunch of stuff in the process. (Even more reason, since it's back to the US from the UK, and shipping a lot of it makes no sense! ) Glad to hear that it worked for you, ichabod.

Thank you all for our great support. We survived the yardsale - went quite well and sold quite a bit. We're working down the layers and realize we'll probably have to have one more and keep donating..but we're moving forward!
